Finally credit given where it's due. Dean Jeffries who never was much of a self promoter . And still isn't. The Monkees car is a true Jeffries Automotive custom creation.
Did you know that the supercharger was originally functional when Jefferies built it, but when Mike Nesmith nearly crashed it during a scene for Monkees, the producers had it taken off and the fake put on.
What a beautiful car… I was lucky enough to tow a few cars for George Barris in and out of universal studios back when he was alive… he was a gentleman.I got a few cool stories to tell… Wonder if anybody wants to hear them.
Bassplayer Marty i’m all ears. I met Mr. Barris at a car show in my hometown in Cleveland back around 1979. He was a bit of a jerk when my friend and I spoke with him.
Wow - lucky person who bought it! Hope you take very good care of it. Would love to see it up close and personal just once in my life. I've been a fan since 1986/87 and this car still amazes me to this day! Monkees Rule!!! :)
Beautiful vehicle, I have the model and I built one in 1968. There's a carburetor under that supercharger, one of them didn't want to drive it with a supercharg . Like they just said that.
Barris sure was hocking that car! I love the Monkeemobile and would love to own it the 66' Batmobile, the Dragula and the Munsters Koach! What a collection that would be!
Didn't the other one have a real blower? Seems to me I heard something like that many eons ago. They used the one with the real blower for certain shots,
Get the Story Straight!......... The Builder was Dick Dean....... Dick Worked for Jeffries as The Builder and Metal Fabricator on the #1 & #2 Monkeemobiles and the #1 & #2 Green Hornet Black Beauties........ there were Only 3 People Involved in Those Builds...... Dick Dean.. Builder and Metal Fabricator........ Roy Gilberth... Interior and Top....... Dean Jeffries... Painted the Cars......and was the Owner of the Shop....so of course He Got the Credit for the Builds.... Facts...Not Fiction!......
Well....it’s 2021. The new owner....is extremely happy with it. And Barris did some modern upgrades..and restored it. So...it’s abit of both. I’m 55. This car was iconic. This and the Pink Panther Mobile...were on tour with bat mobile. The Batmobile was kinda scratched...dull...but all original. Very cool! It’s preserved by someone who can take care of it! And loves to drive it! To own a Dream car! I loved the nose..and the way the pipes come out...just behind the front wheel.
The original designer of the Monkees-mobile also designed the Landmaster.

Damn,I want this car so bad! I live in Arizona and it made me sad when I saw it sell. Not like I have $360,000 to spare, but you know...
If you had won even a small lottery the cost of this Monkeemobile would be a snack. Great buy!

I heard the brakes are spongy

Barris is nerve wracking....geez!!
@Big Bill O'Reilly oh yes he is! He was equally annoying when they sold the Batmobile
LoL grow up dude....only juveniles and people insecure about their own sexuality make comments like that... Come out... You'll feel better
Should have pushed his ass off the stage

Was a real working blower, too much power for Mike Nesmith
I read somewhere the blower car was built to do wheel stands .
George still acting like its his creation.
I know. What a scumbag! Put his Crest on the car and took credit for it. Dean hated him for the longest time
Barris acting the fool like he created the car
Went for $5,000 in 1992
@drtyfknmouth It's Peter Tork ... his real last name is Thorkelson
Peter Torkelson??? Tork, maybe?
Hey, Hey....way to go Barris Kustom!
that car is frigging ugly.
what a waste of a gto
You play guitar?
@rodman23t. Yeah. You clean school toilets.
Ugly car
Deans work did not need to be 're-customized" by silly George M Barris. ....sheesh
This version was a fake.
Dean Jefferies built two Monkeemobiles. Mike Nesmith totalled one.

George was only there to promote the car they gave credit to Dean..
Anyone who knows these cars knows who built them.
