The sky is the limit for you in any setting. You could rock any session gigs if you want to become land-based. As a doubler on flute, I think it was great to hear your great sound on flute as well. I am doing the Hay Burner thing with big band and starting to attempt to transcribe the Fun Time thing to the extent that I can. I've been watching you magic for a while and I've noticed that the throw of keys is three times in length on my sales than yours. I have three tenors an alto and sopranos.The sopranos are superb instruments but the rest are low grade student level sales. Reason being is being on the road and getting my horns beaten up, brusid, scared etc
    My clarinet is a Leblanc ll, 1963, shipped to the USA and then oiled after arrival instead of being oiled overseas. Subjected to attitude ups and downs and temperature changes. I say all of this to ask what brand of alto and tenor saxophones do you play. What I have is extremely hard to play because of the long throw of keys. By the time I'm ready to play other notes I'm five to ten notes behind the music especially in Church where my playing should be perfection. I greatly appreciate your help, thanks sandy.

    • @Sirvalorsax
      @Sirvalorsax  2 года назад

      My tenor is a Cannonball VR, my alto and soprano are both Allora. You can have your local repairman set the horn up the way you want. Most people do this whenever they get a new sax but I've never needed to do this. Pro horns lend themselves to being adjusted better but almost all modern student saxes have key height adjustability.

    Hey man, after receiving feedback from you about how the medium and large chamber v16 mouthpieces are great, would you recommend the t5 large chamber (metal) over the D'Addario select Jazz, in terms of low notes and tone?

    • @Sirvalorsax
      @Sirvalorsax  5 лет назад

      I haven't tried the D'Addario select jazz piece, only the soft rubber marble. Between those two it is a very subjective thing. The Vandoren is more traditional and more expensive but the Marble D'Addario is more unique. The low end of the LC T5 is fantastic but I feel like the Marble has a more balanced overall tone

      Yes. Mostly in college when I really needed to figure out what I wanted every note on the horn to sound like. It's not enough to play long tones. You should be thinking of how the notes fit in context to the music. Transcribing the way people play melodies is a great exercise.

    • @Sirvalorsax
      @Sirvalorsax  5 лет назад +1

      @@pedrodavidrodrigues3481Yes! It does change the sound. Any kind of lacquer or plating will change the weight of the sax or lack thereof for that matter. They all have different properties even across brands. Silver plating on Yanagisawa will sound different from Selmer and also different from vintage silver plated saxes. Also, a polished silver lacquer will sound different from silver plating for example. I prefer the regular lacquer for a few reasons. One, it has the most neutral sound. Two, it is easier to maintain and Three, the resale value will be high and the sax will sell easier. Thanks for watching

      I think there are two big things going on here. 1, the older horns are pretty bad by comparison of the manufacturing process of today's new horns so you are probably getting bouncing keys with the older ones. The tone of the older horns is unbeatable in my opinion. Aside from there being something mechanically wrong with the neck, it seems like the resistance is much different on the other neck. Before you buy another neck, try different strength reeds to get a really good fit for the other neck. Just as we would use different reeds for a different mouthpiece, try different reeds for a new neck which is an extension of the mouthpiece. GOOD LUCK!!

    Si je veux jouer aïgu , je prends mon soprano ou même un sopranino ( qui ne m'intéresse absolument pas ) mais franchement , je dois te dire que , pour moi , jouer dans un registre aïgu sur un sax ténor est quelque chose de particulièrement moche , qui me détruit les tympans et que je ne fais jamais tout simplement parce que le ténor n'a pas du tout été construit pour ça , mais pour produire de splendides sons médium et basse . C' est cela que j'essaie de transmettre et de faire apprécier grâce à lui . Entre nous , je crois qu'il est toujours préférable de seller un cheval qu'une girafe .
