This truck is only used between a terminal and the saw/papermill, to get timber out of the woods you use ordinary 3 pile vehicles. This truck is used on the longer leg of the woods journey from the woods to the mill. I have passed it several times with my car, not noticing any difficulties in doing so. I think it would work in America too, if you used it where it's supposed to be used.

yes, at least in Sweden; The road conditions there are pretty american-like: the roads are often quite straight, curves and lanes are very wide

Obviously depends on how steep the inclines and how many horsepower under the bonnet. Those timber transports that pass by where I live do 50-60km/h climbing these fairly modest hills.

@mynameisg3 das ist wirklich eher was für den Forsbetrieb, also ohne Rampen; Ansonsten gibt es in Schweden auch viele Aufbauten die sich sehr gut seitlich öffnen lassen, also an ne simple Ladekante kann der längs ranfahren

it looks like a good idea to me.
But what if the 30 meters truck goes on a narrow dirt road?

  • @joeytruelove

Wasn't aware of that. And surely these highways may be straight and wide but you know the roadconditions at the pick-up points not so much.

@aid2003 definitely so. It's the very too common gray never-think-near-any-box politician who constantly have to exercise their strive to stay behind in the race leading the evolution trough technology advancement.
Clearly less axle load, less road damage, less traffic..
