If your family and you are financially stable and ready for the constant attention and research, the you can get birds but please don't get birds if you don't have the money to support the birds!
Thank you! You've just saved me a lot of money. Going to make some variations of these with finger traps -- my Buddy loves to tear them apart. Going to avoid the popsicle sticks because Buddy ends up gagging on splinters with wooden toys (tricky because chewing on wood is his favorite thing to do.)
Thanks for the tips on stuffing the dollar store coin rolls! My 2 cockatiels are usually very afraid of new toys, but they spent about an hour crunching happily on avicake stuffed rolls in *peace and quiet*
Such great ideas! I actually have all these materials from Callie’s previous owner so I will definitely be trying these out!!!! One of my birds’ FAV toys is wrapped toothpicks 🤦🏻♀️ they are so silly.

Oh I needed this video so bad lol. My sun conure Sunshine goes through so many toys. Tomorrow I will be at the dollar store. For what i usually pay for 2 toys i can make like 10-15 fun toys!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I been doing this to supplement the ones I buy for my Green cheek. Is true that that this little toys shedder can go thou a 25$ as fast as it goes thou a 3 dollar one. Love it.
I love your vids, I have a green cheek too! :) I was wondering, how many sunflower seeds do you give a day? I want to start training her, but I don’t know how many she should be allowed to eat
thanks so much! 💕 green cheeks are amazing, aren't they?! for me, it depends on how long the training sessions are (usually 15-20 mins.) Pineapple and Pumpkin will get safflower seeds whenever they do a correct behavior during the training sessions and they end up eating a lot because they're both so good at listening haha! I also incorporate some recall training during training sessions so they get some more flying in and so it makes up for all the seeds they'll get! As long as your birdie is on a balanced diet and seeds are used as treats, she should be okay!
Ty so much . I’m def going to make all of these and as for the pop sticks as per another RUclipsr , I suppose you can file down splinters or something great ideas 🌻🌻🌻
Hi, great ideas. I made a wooden ladder with popsicle sticks and colored cubes from a craft store. I want to ask are they safe? It is dye not pain but she likes to nibble on the red ones and they do lose their color and color her cheaks.
@@davidnarvaez8610 Sisal, manila, and hemp are all fine to use. Just make sure they aren't treated and are all natural. There are a few other natural fibers like ratan. I myself am just very weary of twine, because I had a bird almost strangle herself to death on a lose peace that wrapped around her neck. Just be careful that there isn't any loose pieces that they can get stuck on. That and parrots are known to chew on objects, and if they ingest strands of twine, it could lead to digestive issues or blockages. Always supervise your parrot if you use twine. If you decide to use twine, keep a close eye on your parrot to ensure they aren’t chewing it etc.
@Josie Violett Thank you a lot.I think I with just stay away from toilet paper rolls because its hard to verify if the adhesive is safe. Again, thabkd for the info🙂
I have lovebirds who love to chew on everything. Would it be safe for them to chew the materials used to make theses toys, such as the paper, popsicle sticks, etc?
Are you worried about the ink in the cupcake liners, paper, and the coin wrappers? Are you also worried about the birds possibly swallowing the plastic beads, or possibly breaking off pieces of the plastic beads or cups and swallowing them?
You do have to be mindful. Thankfully food wrappers usually don't have anything bad. I tend to avoid paper with shiny finish, but things like brown kraft paper, newspaper, etc are good. Even twine is often treated with things that are harmful, so I often buy these things from somewhere where that info is available, and not from a dollar store.
From everything I've been reading you should avoid anything with dyes. If anyone makes any of these, don't use colored paper. Not sure about coin wrappers, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Also make sure your bird doesn't eat any of it, and don't use anything they can get stuck inside of.
I thought this also, however I think it’s mildly outdated, as they used to say no coloured newspaper, but the dyes they use in this day & age aren’t toxic as they used to be (I could be wrong though!).
My friend drilled right through her thumb doing something similar years ago. She’s still got no feeling in it, be careful. That’s extremely dangerous and not worth it.
Guys please please please do not use plastic anything! beads and easy bendy plastic cups or anything similar they love to chew and ingesting any could be fatal. when birds forage they like to chew on their surroundings so they'll chew on the beads or any plastic and get very ill. Stick to all natural woods and if you want colour naturally dyed woods, SIMPLE! and its usually less expensive.
Plz more im getting two budgies and this helps me save money for things I cant DIY ( perches since i cant find any wood and others)
