I believe a there are 2 issues with the decline in the interest in caravans #1 The price of club sites. The prices have increased a lot, OK there are additional running costs with electric, minimum wage and general cost of living increase. An alternative is search for reasonable priced private sites, but they can vary, or use CL/CS locations, suit some but not all. This, I think, is driving buyers towards campervans and motorhomes where there seems to be a lot of people using park ups for free, or the likes of Brit Stops. #2 Is the after sales service, or lack of, from the supplying new caravan dealers (not all to be fair). I can see why there's a decent choice of sub 2 YO vans at the dealers or caravan specialist who have no tie to a manufacturer. The antiquated way where the dealer sorts the aftersales issues only for their supplied vans is very outdated and restrictive, and this touched upon in this vlog. Being more proactive Darren your approach to this issue is a great way to build your customer base
Now dealer supply only service/repair has been a thing in the industry for many years. However Sprite in early 90s said any new Sprite could be repaired at any Sprite dealer like a car but the idead was dropped after a couple of years. Used van dealers say to me they dont have the hassel of sorting out problems on new tourers nd messing with warranty claims. Lets face it no matter what you buy you want service not to be fobbed off. A couple I spoke to a few years ago had a new MG Suv it broke down with the caravan on and had been a right poor car. their dealer wouldnt give them a car while theres was off the road and saw them as a pain - they said the service was terrible - from a large nationwide dealership!
@@caravanindustryexpertandyjenk Sounded more like a dealer rebellion, maybe? As for the car story I guess this highlights one of the issues from buying from the large dealerships. My cars and caravans come from smaller dealers where the service is a bit more personal. I have heard through my motor trade friends MG aren't the best at aftersales
@@dave40612 troublle is dave family firms are being bought out my local Skoda sold out to Vantage and what a difference it was like another dealership - faceless and cocky sales folk the original staff gone!
