    As somebody who did the nutcracker in a mall in North Carolina with a wig slapped on their head to be a boy in the party saying I know what this is all about. It’s about bringing ballet to the masses. It’s something we have to do if we love our art as much as we say that we did. And thank you for these two dancers for doing this. I did multiple performances in malls as a little kid . If you reach one of the people watching you have done your job.

      I wish I would have seen you! I feel the same way. Although I love more modern and popular genres of the arts in general, I feel like classical performances and music, amongst other things, are "popular", but only in terms of just about everyone knowing about it, and are often stereotyped as boring and snobby, despite these things often not being the case at all. This is why I would love to see more of it being performed in public, but sadly I don't see it happening too often, especially not on RUclips. Sorry for the rant!

    Nutcracker Pas de Deux danced by Principal dancer Tzu-Chao-Chou and First Soloist Yvette Knight of Birmingham Royal Ballet 💐

      @May-y4w9d 25 дней назад

      Unfortunately that's not correct- although Knight and Chou are wonderful dancers. They are current First Artists Lucy Waine and Haoliang Feng, who danced the roles of Sugar Plum Fairy and the Nutcracker Prince that year and since then. Yvette Knight doesn't dance Sugar Plum Fairy with the company.

    An exquisite performance from two elegant and technically pristine dancers. I did not see their names listed here, so I did a search. Could they be none other than Yvette Knight and Tau-Chao Chou?

    How unexpected and beautiful...to see Classical Ballet performed in a public shopping mall in this day and age! I say,,,only in Britain..BLESS YOU! Here in the States, we only see 'Pop" (Hip Hop) styles performed for the public. We Americans have relinquished nearly all of our respect for - and love of the Classics. This gem warmed my heart!

      Excuse you, stop coming off as a snob. And I'm sure in our giant country there are ballet performances in public. Just because you never saw one doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Go to NYC.

    What is 2:57 mean?? 😮 after the Pirouette

    • @elizzy8754
      @elizzy8754 Год назад +1

      Good question: you mean the ballerina pointing the hands down to the left each time after the pirouette? I really don't know; I've always found it a strange gesture. Hopefully someone more familiar with the choreography knows the answer.

      I would say that here it's done a little awkwardly, but if you look at other recordings, it's usually to emphasise the drama of the music at that point
