It says it all about the Stones when a standard album track is musically and lyrically a million times better than most of the dross that tops the charts these days.

Ive come to think the song is about a man courting a girl out of his league. Finally she agrees to share the bedroom but it's on her terms. Terms that the guy is apparently unfulfilling. So he's reached the point of pleading for her guidance. In the end it turns out, "he's not her kind of man".

This song is a good example of how I feel about the Rolling Stones in general. There's nothing really crazy or special musically or lyrically. It's just a bluesy song about desire and connection with nice guitars, solid drums and Mick putting his stamp on it. Lacking truly epic songs doesn't matter when you have hundreds (which they literally do) that you enjoy listening to.

I can think of a a few truly epic songs they have done. Some are absolute masterpieces either by the power of the lyrics or musical composition.

Hi my dear... now thar was a "special one". When I saw the title of this video, I already thought : "Hmmmm... how is she going to react to it ? Does she feel comfortable with the lyrics, or with the topic of the song in general ? Actually, you liked the song, but in your words after the song, you always tried to avoid the "s"-word (if you know what I mean) by circumscribing it in a more let's say "polite" way. That was kind of sweet, to be honest and it made me smirk a little... anyway, I liked your reaction to this song very much. In my opinion, Bette Midler's cover of this song sounds better than the original, but that's only my point of view.
Here's to your next one... I hope to see your reaction to "Chalk outlines" soon... or another one from my recent suggestions.
Hugs and kisses from your dear friend Gerry

For a loose, ramshackle band the Stones have produced so much quality in rock, country, soul, rhythm & blues disco, and funk music. No wonder they have endured!

Song has a great groove. The lyrics outside the title sections are rather puerile. But that's not too unusual of Mick Jagger's lyrics r of the late 1970's. Who can forget the line in the song Start Me Up "Dead man c*m) Deep stuff Mick. Cynthia, I thought you handled the songs lyrics with your usual aplomb. RNB

@@troedelgerry Just finished listening to Bring Me Back Home by R J &TW. Sounds really good. They obviously have their roots in Delta Blues and the music Tommy Dowd recorded at Criteria Studios in Miami, Florida in the late 60's and through the mid 70's. If you are unfamiliar with Criteria and Tommy Boyd, may I suggest you go through even a partial list of the artists that have recorded at Criteria. Robert Jon's Band would feel right at home. RNB
