Piper's sub-Biblical psychology is most apparent here. He has a faculty psychology that divides man into rational vs irrational parts. The heart is NOT IRRATIONAL. The heart thinks, truth is in the heart, and the heart believes. The heart IS the mind, just as the conscience IS the mind, just as the will IS the mind. The conscience is the mind when the content of thought is ethical things. The heart IS THAT SAME UNITARY MIND when the content of thought is contemplating my vital interests. And the will is .merely the act of my mind choosing.
