Thanks for the video and the dockerfile! Connecting to ZeroTier server is increasingly harder in my area and self hosting saved my life😶🌫 Network controller seems to be the only self-hosting solution that supports joining from iOS and iPadOS devices.
Wow this is the perfect channel for me. So I see alot of the comments state that you take requests and I have a mission impossible for you. I live in Ethiopia where public IP address' are extremely expensive. And the only decent and affordable internet connections are 4g. I have a home server with 12tb of data on it and here is what I want. A way to link the server to a public IP so I can access it without needing zero tier installed on the client.
What are benefits of using local dashboard if you still using original ZT service? Just one more layer? Why? At first I thought this is purely selfhosted solution, but comments suggest that it's not? You still able to connect same amount of devices?
Yeah. People have told me I talk too fast for years now and, believe it or not, I've slowed down quite a bit, but, well...: dbtechreviews.com/i-talk-fast/
Thanks a lot for this great tutorial. As in your video, the status of my peers is OFFLINE when they are actually online and can ping each other. Is the connection by any chance with the root servers and not via the selfhosted controller?
Does this method require a ZT account? I understand you will need a ZT account to get access to the API key, but is that needed for the standalone to function? Will anything propagate back to the ZT servers? Thanks for the video.
One of the benefits of the global network is redundancy with their servers around the globe. Does this integrate to the global network by default or if your controller goes down does it take down your networks?
If am using cloudflare tunnel because my nginx is giving me an internal error. Can I use zerotier to stream video between devices inside the zerotier network?
Can we configure tcp failover relay to only use self hosted server? i try with this config but the connection speed really awful when fail to establish udp hole punching.
I can't see "PreferencesView" and "ZeroTier Central" options into my zerotier client (version 1.8.1 and 1.8.3) how to activate these options @DB Tech ?
Hi! one question, when I try to deploy the stacks on portainer, its says: Deployment error because of the version. Version 3 is not supported. How can you deploy a version 3 stack on portainer?. Thanks
Can you make a video how to deploy and expose containers on internet, from home if we have a normal consumer connection with dynamic ip that change every x hours?
I've already done that. You can setup SO many things on Docker and expose them to the internet with a domain name easily, especially if you use CloudFlare to manage your DNS. You can also install a CloudFlare DDNS container to update your CloudFlare settings to reflect your new IP address.
Love your videos, i have mine up and running yet I use the Zero Trust (cloud flare) "port forwarding". My question is when i expose the 3443 port on cloud flare I get an error 502 from the host. Yet when i plug in: localhost:3443 on my network GUI dash comes up with no issue. Not sure if im doing something wrong. -- Again, thanks for these videos it has made my understanding that you can do these things on your own. Have a good one.
I'm amazed how quickly you got this video out after the request! Thanks! Always quality videos!
My content is often driven by user requests :)
As always.. thanks for explaining everything in detail.
my only difference is I tunnel to my controllers and don't expose them to the internet. Great video to help folk get started.

Will ZeroTier work on Synology with DSM 7?
Looks like DSM 7 blocks third side packages that aren't signed by Synology to access root level.

Use cloudflare tunnel!
Thanks for the demo and info, have a great day
Thank you for this simple tutorial. I will try this in my "lab". 😄
Really useful video. I was thinking of self hosting too.
Great !!
Helped me a lot, for our branch office !!
Thanks !!
Can i ASk u About it From Security its Has Security?

Thanks for this video, really appreciated!
Thank you. Absolutely great. Exactly what I was looking for!
Great video...you go too fast sometimes for newbs like me. But i always just rewind and I'm good to go. Thanks!

Good stuff loving the zerotier vids
It seem there are new ztncui like self hosted zerotier controller called zero-ui by dec0dOS, will you reviewing that also?
Thanks a lot for this great tutorial. As in your video, the status of my peers is OFFLINE when they are actually online and can ping each other. Is the connection by any chance with the root servers and not via the selfhosted controller?
So this controller would only be available on the local network? or you never showed port forwarding but maybe dont have too?
No port forward necessarily

I'm pretty sure you'll need a ZT account as this is just a local dashboard for the service
@@DBTechYT Thanks for your reply! I was hoping for a more self hosted solution and this looked pretty promising. Appreciate your time!

Is this still working? preferences is gone in the zt-ui
I didn't get why we're still using the zerotier website for the api key??
if we install it on a vps
Because we're still using their service. We're just configuring it locally
@@DBTechYT okii so does the traffic go thru them ?
Hi! How can this be backed up so that in the event of a failure, all zerotier data can be restored?
That add depends on your setup and how you have your containers deployed.
Sadly this does not work in ARM devices.
Does this improve network speed between peers?
I can't see "PreferencesView" and "ZeroTier Central" options into my zerotier client (version 1.8.1 and 1.8.3) how to activate these options @DB Tech ?
Did you get an api key from Zerotier and put it in your local settings?
@@DBTechYT nope, where exactly I need to put the API, I use Windows, Android and linux client
Will this work behind a double NAT?

Update your Portainer to the newest version
@@DBTechYT Hi, I´ve got the latest version installed (2.5.1) on a Raspberry pi 4 (4GB). Dont know what its wrong. Thanks for your answer anyway!

why your own controller still need my.zerotier api key?
Because this is a locally hosted dashboard that is connected to the zerotier service
if already using tailscale and i want to move using zerotier i need to remove tailscale first ?
You shouldn't need to remove it but you can if you're not going to use it
@@DBTechYT should I turn it off ?
That should be fine
@@DBTechYT thanks for you replay 🙏
@@DBTechYT can we running 2 ztncui server for 1 ip public ?
i have my ow reason for that,
Hey Sir, Please make how to deploy MacOS / OSX On Docker Container (Like In easy way) Also on Linode Please. I need it for testing purposes.
github.com/sickcodes/Docker-OSX
@@DBTechYT Yes this one; Its to complicated to setup. Please setup this up on Linode or any other cloud vm
Hi Can you do video about install chia on raspberry pi? It was very helpfull for me
All this DNS malarky is total overkill and overshadows the main point, which is to set up ZeroTier using Docker. Ditch the fluff next time please.
So you're upset that I gave more detail than YOU needed? Is that about right?

Great as always. Can you look at azuracast . Internet radio. Thanks
I will. I saw that Geeked released a video about it yesterday, but he did it in Proxmox, so I'll look into it as a direct docker install
Yeah, saw that also, great video on geeked
