I use only water. Once I see roots I gradually switch to nutrient solution. Please see my LECA guide for details on how to transition and make the solution. 🙂
Question: i’m waiting for a Begonia Sophia in a 3” pot to arrive and wanted to transfer her into leca. Would she go into a 3” pot or a bigger pot for the leca transfer?
I have never tried but when I start a cutting or transfer a plant to a different media and it’s struggling, O always put it inside a closed clear container. the very high humidity helps. once it’s rooted or well established I open the container gradually over a few days to acclimate the plant to normal room humidity.
Use what is left to start a new plant. Plant it in LECA and then put the whole thing inside a clear container to give it 100% humidity until it's completely rooted and starts to produce more leaves. Then open the container VERY gradually over a couple weeks to acclimate the plant back to ambiant air (lower humidity).
How long ago did you transfer them? Did you wash the roots completely? Did you follow the instructions in my tutorial video? What is "not doing so well" exactly?
@@cat.b about a week ago and it’s down to about 4leafs but it shot out some nice I move it to self water pot today and looked at the roots looks better then when I put her in .. but just the leaves are gone, I hoping with the nutrients to get some back
I think it will be fine. Putting it in a closed container could help. A clear tote or clear plastic bag. When ready to go back to room air, open the container gradually over a week.
Thank you! I just received a cutting and I want to use leca but have never tried it and now I feel confident!!
I'm so glad it helped! Thank you for your comment!

What nutrients should I add if I’m trying to propagate a cutting in leca if the mamma plant was in dirt?
I use only water. Once I see roots I gradually switch to nutrient solution. Please see my LECA guide for details on how to transition and make the solution. 🙂

it really depends on the root system. your will have to wait to see the naked roots to decide.
Hi there. Can i grow my begonia maculata in pumice? I did it anyway but after 2 days its limpy n leaves turn soft. What shld i do?

Hello, please help me, my begonia is dying, I only have a small twig left, :'(
Use what is left to start a new plant. Plant it in LECA and then put the whole thing inside a clear container to give it 100% humidity until it's completely rooted and starts to produce more leaves. Then open the container VERY gradually over a couple weeks to acclimate the plant back to ambiant air (lower humidity).
Also what kind of closed containers do you use
A clear plastic tote or a clear plastic bag. Big glass cookie jar, a vase upside down... anything clear basically .
My plants are not doing so well since I moved them to Leca. Idk what to do. What should I feed it?
How long ago did you transfer them? Did you wash the roots completely? Did you follow the instructions in my tutorial video? What is "not doing so well" exactly?
