339 - We MADE IT to The RIVER NENE But With a BIG COST!

- Today we head down the final few miles of the Grand Union Northampton arm, once we head through the last lock we won't be on CRT water for another 3 months, the river Nene and Great Ouse are managed by EA. Which means we need to upgrade our license to a gold, which will cost upwards of £600. Once on the Nene, we head through the heart of Northampton and onwards to a beautiful mooring at the Northampton Washlands.

Lovely cruise. That was lucky meeting other boats as you were coming out of the locks. It's like everything else going up in price. James from The Narrowboat That James Built did a vlog on the price increases earlier in the year.
We have never paid this much for a pump out. Couldn't believe it, the dearest we have paid is £27 in the Aquaduct marina on the Middlewich branch. We thought that was expensive. Its a bit annoying as when you get to Peterborough there is a free pump out and we use that later on 😊
Brilliant. When and if we swap our widebeam for a Narrowboat the Nene and that area is where I really want to cruise. Great vlog. Thank you.
The river Nene is stunning and we have loved it.
I understand that the Anglian pass is for the Middle Levels and the Cam - you can get a short term pass for the Levels but it won't save you much and it means you can't spend any time on the Levels - beware low bridges and Olive will have difficulty turning in lots of places
We know about the 3 day pass for middle levels but it £80 so for £30 more you can get a year long one. Thanks for the heads up though 😊

Hi not far behind you guys got through 16 locks from 12 pm wow isn't it Narrow after lock 14 also weeds but only had to go in reverse to clear them

If you get to Peterborough there is a free pump out there it's great. The first one you get to the second one is broken. We use it before we go onto the middle levels.
The Anglian pass was less for me at 39 foot but do consider the Friends of the Nene and same for the Great Ouse
We are with the friends of the Nene and Doba moorings on the Ouse 😊. The anglian pass was more expensive for us because it depends on the length of your boat like the crt license. We had to upgrade to a gold licence.
Did you get some new flags. I thought you lost your Devon flag, and I noticed a Union Jack flag on the front of your boat 🚢
We have new Devon flags and the union jack one was for the coronation and won't last long as plastic.
