Ahmet, you're probably right. Most of my observations were when he was an infant and the first year when he spent most of his time alone in his crib (except when he had a ferret with him). He seemed to be practically non-vocal, and just kind of gazing around. I wonder how he is doing now that he is so much older? It seems he was not with any older chimps (or any chimps) for his first year. It must have been quite hard on him to interact within a troop when he had no social skills (which is paramount in a chimp's world). gggy - any follow up on this chimp? or that pathetic baby baboon who began to show neuroses from being isolated and unstimulated his first year? or that baby orangutan who you taped getting beat on by the baby chimp? Where are they now and how are they doing?

I may be wrong, but I've seen all the posted videos of this chimp since infancy and I think he's a bit "slow."
