    Awww, doggo and rhino pals. Doggo was trying to share his toy. Cute.
    I wish humans would just leave the wild animals alone. They were here first if you believe in the Bible. And human's entitlement to all beings is just wrong.

    I’m not sure if I agree with the owner of the sanctuary on not introducing too much of a military approach to protecting the rhinos. Clearly these poachers are experts at what they do and are willing to use military-grade weapons. The only way to scare them off and make sure they don’t see you as exploitable is to show them that your organization has the same armed forces and serious mentality that they do.

      African Parks organization is looking after 20 parks now across Africa. Majority were completely empty of any wildlife! Savanah deserts or green deserts....not even a gazelle...just birds....they use small armies, armed to the teeth! with some rangers babysitting elephants or rhinos day in and day out in some parks...but it MUST be done otherwise there will be nothing left...at one stage Africa was just about empty from wildlife (4 million elephants 100 years ago down to 400 thousand today - think about THAT slaughter and weep!)...

      @@Nitka022 many other African countries if poachers are brought in alive they are put to death. Capturing poachers alive give authorities the opportunity to interrogate them and find what others are involved and where. They can find out who is buying the animal parts from the poacher. If they then catch that guy, interrogate him and get the next person up the ladder.

    This is an old doc, because the charity running the orphaned rhino sanctuary in South Africa closed it in May 2017 after one of the women was sexually assaulted by poachers, who also killed 2 of the rhinos for their horns. It was really sad for the rhinos as they all had to be placed in temporary locations, and they also had to find a home for their Alsatian (USA: German shepherd) dog. The lady profiled called Karen Trendler seems to have recovered from her cancer, God willing, and still works in wildlife rehabilitation.

God made those horns for them to protect them in the wild. It is man's greed that haas ruined this planet. When the poachers are caught. They should be shot at sight.

    What's the difference between illegal poachers or legal trophy hunters? The only difference is that the government gets to cut itself in for some profits. But for the animals, it makes no difference b/c in both cases the animals are dead. Both poaching and trophy hunting should result in life in prison, for the sake of the animals. They have a right to their lives, too.

    • @eyesopen6659
      @eyesopen6659 3 года назад +1

      Many conservation efforts are run by the trophy hunting business. Somewhat ironically, animals too old to mate such as giraffes will often still kill offspring that isn't theirs. Resulting in lower numbers of giraffes reaching breeding age. So sometimes it is a good thing that humans intervene, and whatever fee that was taken that goes into better protection for the remaining animals, better tracking, better medication for those that get caught in poacher traps and live and need rehab. This goes for other animals as well. The government only gets a cut from the tourism end of things like passports and dealing the actual permits.
      Edit: The difference between poachers and trophy hunters is that trophy hunters have to pay a fair sum and the money goes to the local programs for animal conservation and there's no wastage of meat and resources once the deed is done, especially not for exotic animals, even elephants get taken in for research and recording. Poachers will kill and butcher animals for specific parts and leave them to rot, not furthering science or conservation whatsoever.

      Legal trophy hunters can't kill endangered species. They can't shoot rhinos or tigers for example.

    • @Stefnfurryfriends
      @Stefnfurryfriends Год назад

      I would also say some endangered species have to be prevented from too much inbreeding through taking out dominant older males. Giving them free for legal hunting, brings the protection services the money to protect the population. As mean it looks. Rare species need to be prevented from to much inbreeding through breeding concepts. And taking out the dominant old males is essentiell for that. So what is better, putting them into a smal prison, where they suffer from being taken out of their life, or getting shot, no suffering at all, and even brought the money thats needed to safe the population. Its a tough theme. But thats the difference between legal hunt and illegal killing, where noone cares about anything. In that legal hunt concept to my knowledge they even can shoot endagered species, for especially that reason.

      Rhino horns are the only way the animal has to protect itself. There are countless videos of rhinos without horns being attacked by hippos, lions, hyenas etc. It's literally their only way to defend themselves.
