That's not a set! The thermal site of "Caracalla" was built by the romans 216 years after christ, roughly 1.804 years ago and still stands the test of time proudly in one of the most historycally rich parts of the world.
    Europe is Ancient, buddy ;)

Caracalla's thermal baths are one of the most beautiful places in Rome. It may look fake to those who are not used to see roman buildings, mostly because they still stand after thousands of years. But it's quite normal to us Italians, to see them as the jewels that they are... the Colosseo, Circo Massimo, Fori Imperiali, Ostia Antica, the roman villas... they are part of an heritage that goes beyond history and pride. I live in Rome and I can assure you that being at concerts with these locations is just breathtaking. Only who visits these places can actually understand. Glad to know that jewels like Pavarotti's voice and talent and the Eternal City are still able to stunn.❤

My Chinese grandma has travelled a bit and has seen some stuff. It really surprises her that the Americas (in general) are young. So correlating well-lit ancient ruins with a movie set or the like is not far fetched.
      So, thermal baths, huh? Nice.

    Nobody shall sleep!...
    Nobody shall sleep!
    Even you, oh Princess,
    in your cold room,
    watch the stars,
that tremble with love and with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me,
my name no one shall know...
    No!...No!...
On your mouth, I will tell it when the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!...
(No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.)

    • @mzytryck
      @mzytryck 4 года назад +9

      Agreed.
I've heard some opera singing in English, and it's so distracting because it turns a purely musical experience into someone melodramatically draw-aw-aw-aw-aw-ing OUT everrrrrrrrrry WOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRDDDDD!!!!! and often then repeating the same phrase over and over again.
It's much better when you don't know the language so can treat the voice as another musical instrument being played by a master.

I don't know of any black man liking Opera. You got it. Your reaction looked genuine and I was surprised how you reacted to his voice. I'm sure some black people love Opera, but to my knowledge the are in to rap, hip hop and their kind of soul music. This really touched you and you understood the feeling and passion that that man has. Great watching watching you. I myself never got into to Opera, but this mans voice gave me goosebumps on top of goosebumps. His voice let me feel something I never experimented before. I'm actually a C/W fan, but I was glad hearing this man sing. You are right, one does not need to understand the words at all. His performance transported me to another world. I do like several different styles of singing and music. This one was truly special.

Hell yeah, man! I don't know if anyone helped you with the pronounciation, but you actuality did really well! Best I can type is "Lou-chiano Pauve-o-rotty" He's possibly the single best example of operatic vocal technique that we've seen in the last 75 years, our so.
I love what you said about the language "not mattering". My opera coach took me to meet her coach and I watched her get a lesson. We had a "non-opera" friend in tears from listening to her sing an aria from a different opera by this same composer. She knew how sad it was without understanding the first word. It was such a spectacular moment.
Thanks so much for doing this! I'm, easily, one of the biggest opera fans I know, but seeing folks who don't know it and love it like we do that appreciate it, always moves me, man. Thank you so much and do check out more!

Luciano Pavarotti was one of the world's greatest Italian Tenor Opera singers, if not the greatest of the 20th Century. Pavarotti was also one of "The Three Tenors" who periodically performed together and were very popular. Their performances can be viewed on RUclips today. Pavarotti played a major role in the movie, "Yes, Giorgio (1982)," a romantic comedy. He also sang a famous duet with Celine Dion -- an emotional and masterful live performance of the song "I Hate You Then I Love You." He was loved by people and celebrities around the world, and still is, despite his surprising death in Septebmber 2007 of cancer. It was a great loss to the music loving world. He was known for his humor and his powerful tenor voice that pierced and captivated the souls of millions of people.

Thanks for playing this! You pronounce Pavarotti perfectly. Happy that young people are enjoying this...too bad he died too soon. Lyrics in English:
    Nobody shall sleep!...
    Nobody shall sleep!
    Even you, oh Princess,
    in your cold room,
    watch the stars,
that tremble with love and with hope.
But my secret is hidden within me,
my name no one shall know...
    No!...No!...
On your mouth, I will tell it when the light shines.
And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine!...
(No one will know his name and we must, alas, die.)
    Vanish, o night!
    Set, stars! Set, stars!
At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!

Luciano Pavarotti is one of the greatest Tenors in history. The "Nessun Dorma" (No One Sleeps) is the most famous aria from the opera "Tourandot" by Puccini. The mark of a great Tenor is the ability to hit and hold the F4 during the climax (vincero-I will win).

You are saying his name correct. His first name I have heard pronounced like you said it (Lu-see-an-o) and also like Lu-chi-an-o (that might be the Italian way). Nessun Dorma is one of my and my mom's favorite songs. I remember being about 15/16 when he passed in 2007, I was upset for the whole day. Whenever I hear Pavarotti's voice I get instant chills. He always had such emotion in his eyes when he sang. He always sang with his whole physical being so you didn't have to understand the language. You could just see and feel what he was portraying with his voice and emotions. He was amazing and in my opinion, there won't be anyone like him.

The ci in Luciano would be pronounced like chi, and Pavarotti would be Pa-vah-rOhtti you said it Pa-vah-rAhtti.
"Nessun dorma"; English: "Let no one sleep" is an aria from the final act of Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot and one of the best-known tenor arias in all opera. It is sung by Calaf, il Principe ignoto (the unknown prince), who falls in love at first sight with the beautiful but cold Princess Turandot. Any man who wishes to wed Turandot must first answer her three riddles; if he fails, he will be beheaded. In the aria, Calaf expresses his triumphant assurance that he will win the princess.
    Nessun dorma! Nessun dorma!
    Tu pure, o Principessa,
    nella tua fredda stanza,
    guardi le stelle
che tremano d'amore, e di speranza!
(None shall sleep! None shall sleep!
    Not even you, oh Princess,
    in your cold bedroom,
    watching the stars
that tremble with love, and with hope!)
    Ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me;
    il nome mio nessun saprà!
    No, No! Sulla tua bocca,
lo dirò quando la luce splenderà!
    (But my secret is hidden within me;
no one will know my name!
    No, no! On your mouth,
I will say it when the light shines!)
    Ed il mio bacio scioglierà
il silenzio che ti fa mia!
    (And my kiss will dissolve
the silence that makes you mine!)
    Dilegua, o notte!
    Tramontate, stelle!
    Tramontate, stelle!
    All'alba, vincerò!
    Vincerò! Vincerò!
    (Vanish, o night!
    Fade, you stars!
    Fade, you stars!
    At dawn, I will win!
I will win! I will win!
    )

This is a song about passionate love that you are willing to die to protect. LP and AF captured the intent of Puccini. This is cross cultural sharing as we learn to appreciate each other.

He says no lone will sleep tonight, but he is invincible. He has performed this song for many years and there are videos from his younger years. He is always perfect, but in his younger days he could hold those last two notes quite a bit longer. Worth watching. In several of his videos, you can see at the end of his performance, he closes his eyes and is reviewing his performance. You can see he is thinking "Was it good, did I get it right? YES! I nailed it again!!!" Always watch to the end of the video and you will see this.
