Paessler PRTG monitoring software can detect HMI outages and generate alerts. Thanks to the product extension Paessler PRTG OPC UA Server, the alarm can be forwarded to a supervisory and control system such as a SCADA or DCS. There the operator is informed of the HMI failure, and the alarm can also be acknowledged.
This leads to better collaboration between IT and OT and the issue with the HMI can be tackled and fixed together.
