- Stephanie & Philip at Chateau de Lalande have done it this time! Can they cope with this many castle-owners under one roof? It's the great Chateau Swap Meet of 2024, but first we have work to do! Simon is busy with Chateau DIY for our own castle renovations, and I have a new Interior Design job at one of Paris' most exclusive addresses. Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful (and wonderfully funny!) husband, Simon, our daughter Isabella, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 23 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us.
We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

Paul Anka sang Puppy Love first in 1960, but I still had Donny Osmond posters on my bedroom wall….it was in 1972, after all.
Our rooms must have matched! Donny was everywhere in my childhood bedroom. I had a strong case of puppy love!
I have Paul Anka’s record, with him sitting on a world globe, my dad loved Paul…and yes I love Paris ❤️
Donny Osmond, he wasn't the first, but th he only one I think of when someone talks about the song. I follow him on Instagram. I was able to remember my parents anniversary because it's Donny's birthday

Actually, I thought that WAS Doris Day!! But after listening again I think Vivienne's sister's voice is a little clearer ...Doris was a bit 'breathy'. Will always LOVE her song "Que Sera Sera" which my mother sang to me as a child ...I think Doris sang this to children in the movie as well where the song was featured. @@mercedesbeard6974

I just looked up the etymology of Flamboyant & it directly traces to French origins ...in fact French Architectural origins!!! Furthermore, French Architectural origins in the 14th, & 15th century!!! So Vivienne what could be more perfect than to call yourselves a "Flamboyance of Chatelaines"!!!

Oh Vivienne! I loved seeing you and Simon and your found treasures! I do hope you all decide to make this a regular feature. We all have treasures to pass onto someone new! Oh yes in Emmais you can find treasures ! I particularly love these old furniture that was made to last forever but, of course, nowadays they have to be repainted at least in a clear color ! For the song « puppy love » was sung by Donny Osmond (I still have the records) but my mother told me it was Paul Anka we sung that song before.
