We retired to Laramie a couple years ago and love it. Yes the winters can be a bit long but the summers are primo. The all time record high in Laramie is 94 degrees. My wife is from Florida and had a hard time realizing that she would never again see triple digit temperatures unless we were traveling. She has fallen in love with Wyoming in general and Laramie in particular. Also, if you need a bigger town Cheyene is 45 minutes away, Ft. Collins, CO, about an hour, and Denver and Denver International Airport about 2 hours. Also, Laramie punches above its weight culturally because of the University. Plus great outdoor areas close at hand. Real estate prices are going up though.

The price of land, and homes is much higher than most people realize, I'm retired myself. I considered several properties in the west and northwest area of Wyoming, I almost purchased a ranch, but decided to stay in my home state. I prefer Wyoming because I enjoy the seclusion, and privacy that some properties have. I love the outdoors myself, and live in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park area of Tennessee. My wife and I have 5 current properties, and 1 of them will be put up for sale hopefully by the spring of 2023? We get out, and do lots of outdoor activities even in the winter time: we were both born for the outdoors. We get to see black bears, Elks, and numerous other wild life, we don't have Grizzly bears, thank goodness because we also have tourist doing ill advised things around black bear sows with cubs. We will keep our eyes out because Wyoming does have some very good properties for sale, and if your a younger generation and are looking for work: your best bet is to move to the Eastern part of Wyoming as they have some very good jobs there. We are looking into Western & Northwestern Wyoming because of the elevation, terrain of more privacy because we are both retired.

If I could talk my wife to moving back to Wyoming...We lived in and around in Cheyenne for over 21 years from 1974 to 1995. We reside in the state of MS currently. So tired of the extreme heat, humidity and social issues. We are now in our 70's and health care is a consideration. I can handle the cold but the extreme winds are a consideration as well. Prices have increased so much in and around Cheyenne and Laramie. Finding a smaller home then we have now yet with an acre or two at a moderate price is a challenge. We visited Cheyenne last Sept, (2021) I fell back in love with the area. Thanks for the video.

Loving these videos. I want to retire to Wyoming and that’s how I found your videos. I have 10 years till retirement, so I’m starting the planning early. I’d like to get land up there ahead of time, or a house and land that can possibly be Vrbo in the mean time that I can go enjoy a couple times a year till retirement. I don’t know if there is a market for that, to cover the cost or where their is a market for that. I know here in Az there is a lot, but this state is also packed full of people. To much people. I miss the AZ of decades ago, when we weren’t this packed. That’s why Wyoming calls me. I know it will never be a packed state and that’s appealing. It’s also conservative. Sadly all the north east and left coast transplants are destroying AZ on all metrics. The crime itself is just out of control.

In areas that are not as conservative, e.g. Jackson, there are more folk who tend toward favoring conservation issues including wolves. However, you feel, pro or anti, if you keep your opinions to yourself you should do fine. Wyoming is probably one of the worst places to retire, winters are brutal, blizzards, non stop freezing winds and ice make driving dangerous, its also one of the most expensive places to retire, to rent even a small apartment is well over $1000 to $ 2000 per month, Utility bills are insane, $ 500 to over $ 1000 per month is common, I lived in Wyoming for 27 years and because I wanted to retire I moved to beautiful East, Texas, we love it here, clean quiet, we are out in the country, its just beautiful, Wyoming has been falling apart for the last 4 years, Sky High Prices for gas, food, utilities, property taxes are just like California, or Florida, Super High, The Internet, Cell phones, Dish TV , many times goes down, for days, and weeks on end, and in some areas its not even there, There are many much better places to Retire Than Wyoming, The Restaurants are awful in the State, There are lots of Scams and Cons run on Retiree's in Wyoming be very careful,
