Used to be popular 20+ years ago like all small town stops on the highway when driving long distances were an experience and you needed to stop for fuel more often opposed to to have flash and faster cars when its quicker not to stop..
why is everyone pretending Takistan is brand new? Im seeing other streamers pretend that as well. this map is older than namalsk, and was ported to the standalone several years ago

And nobody has yet to actually return suicide vests, it's literally not the same without them, and especially not the border wall like was always there in A3.... those 2 additions along with a good RP server would probably make it popular again, but right now, it doesn't work for vanilla or lightly modded, and only works halfway decent if you have a bunch of added mods and then it turns into a straight death match server.... which is fine, if listed as such, but it's garbage sadly otherwise. Shame really, there was a really interesting desert map that was supposed to be released last year or this, but I'm pretty sure the guy who was making it abandoned the project, it was called Qhaima, was going to have sandstorms before Takistan Plus did, oasis(es?), both Taki and completely custom buildings, and I'm pretty sure a complete working and dynamic electrical system for houses, streets, ECT....or wait, I think that last one was for Sahrani, yet another sorely missed map that was coming and abandoned 😑
Because those certain buildings in Deerisle are literally Takistan buildings 😅 Takistan is an "official" Bohemia Interactive map, we've been playing on it for over 13yrs, it's not great for DayZ though, hence why they themselves never thought about bringing it to DayZ SA, so first Matt did back in 2020, then Cype did it again in 2021 (and added custom areas and the sandstorm and working house ladders ECT... the initial port done by Matt wasn't 100%, the map and everything was there, but he didn't know how to get certain things working like the Takistan specific ladders and wells and Taki specific trees for wood ECT, so Cype redid it)
