God has blessed us with huge quantities of mineral deposits, especially gold, across the country. The riverbeds in these areas are full of gold. Our universities and research institutions have numerous publications that offer solutions to the galamsey menace. If the government were interested in solving the problem, the state would have taken charge of extracting the gold without destroying the environment. With the gold depleted, people would no longer be attracted to the rivers and forests to engage in galamsey.

How can we realistically expect a Minister of Lands and Resources, appointed by a political party with vested interests, to genuinely tackle the issue of illegal mining? If he's a member of the NPP, how do we believe he won't turn a blind eye when it's his own party's supporters benefiting from galamsey? The core of the problem lies in appointing a politically aligned individual to a position that should prioritize national interest. We needed a non-partisan figure, someone whose loyalty would be to the country, not a party worried about losing power over efforts to curb illegal mining.
Let's analyze the statements he's made, every word signals an inability or unwillingness to confront the illegal operations run by his party members. He speaks as if his hands are tied because confronting this issue would be to fight against his own political base. We, as Ghanaians, are wiser now and must reflect on the meaning behind his words. But make no mistake, if we allow this reckless destruction of our environment to continue, it won't be long before the Tano and Pra Rivers turn against us, destroying lives indiscriminately.
Have we forgotten our past so easily? Rivers do not tolerate pollution indefinitely. History warns us of the consequences of environmental neglect, yet we seem determined to repeat the same mistakes. And don't think for a second that President Akufo-Addo is innocent in this, he is complicit. If my words provoke anger, then so be it. Arrest me if you must, but at least I’m speaking the truth. Do our leaders even think about the long term damage they are causing? The water that sustains us is being destroyed for short term gain. God provided us with these resources water, gold yet we are recklessly ruining the very gifts that sustain us.
Can we honestly imagine writing in our textbooks for future generations that we once had rivers? Will our grandchildren only learn about our rivers from history books, knowing that we stood by and allowed them to be destroyed? How can we, in good conscience, allow this to happen? We are fools!!! You are among if you don't let us fight against this issue. If we have to kill to stop. We are read and on the 11th November, we are joining Okatayie and they won't see us coming. I am Tano son.
