You're questioning the authenticity of her age when she's not even the oldest woman in her village. She also lost her first and only boyfriend in the world war 2. So she was already in her 20's or at least 18 to 19 years old in the 1940's. But even if she wasn't exactly 100 years old. She can't be any younger than 80 because even in the 1990's when I was growing up, she was already that old. I already saw her on the local news looking that old.

The reason jeepneys and other forms of transpo need to wait for their vehicles to be full before leaving is because drivers don't get paid a salary; They earn based on the number of passengers they have. So if they leave with an empty vehicle, they will be paying for gasoline but earning nothing. Laeving with one passenger and leaving with a full vehicle costs the same in terms of gasoline. So, they maximize earnings by making sure the vehicle is full before leaving. Understanding this will help you enjoy the enjoy the Philippines more. Have FUN!

As a local I can say my country is safe in peaceful but you can never say the criminal elements are lurking around the corner and are capable enough to do atrocities without bias. @shannon I don't how western culture taught you as a woman but here in my parents would never allow their daughters to go to unfamiliar remote areas. I've been watching foreign trekkers seem to challenge the safiness of my country. Please refrain from advertising yourselves during your journey. As it is your already standing out coz of your foreign feature so attracting attention by it. It's fine if what you are attracting are good people but if you did attract criminal elements it can really be dangerous. Honestly I'm not really into whatever you experience in my country what I'm concerned is the headache you'll give my country when something bad happened to you. Putting my country in the bad light again. We as Filipinos apologize will again for the action we have no control over. I'm saying these base on past incidences. So please @alan/shannon and to all foreign trekkers please take precationary measures with every adventures you'll take in my country specially in remote areas. Again I'm not saying the locals are bad people but you as Westerners are quite aware of opportunities for criminal elements. So help us locals for maintaining the positive understanding toward my country by simply taking safty precautions in every adventure you take.🤓

While it's admiring and a good gesture for a gentleman who's wearing a black cap backwards by these foreigners when asked for help to direct them to a certain place in Sagada. I can't help but to feel disgusted that even before he answered to the question, he had to clear his throat and spitted in front of them. This kind of behavior or habit to our society has to be addressed if we want to win the admiration of foreigners who love visit the Philippines.
    I'm a Pilipino.
