It's funny how Drew mentioned his penchant for catastrophizing. Because they're always saying how no one listens to Drew and they can't figure out why. Adam's brilliant explanation is that Drew is "the man." Well, no. I was a teenager when Loveline was at its peak. It's because of his constant panicking and exaggerating. We used to talk about it in school. We'd say it was hilarious how Drew would automatically call everyone who'd ever smoked a joint an addict and talk about how if you smoke pot you WILL become a speed addict and how pot is the same as heroin and all that, how he used to say 75% of young people in cities have HPV, (which he kind of walked back when Adam put him in his place) and how the worst-case scenario would always play out in his head. We saw him as an out of touch old man who had no concept of what the world actually was. You start exaggerating like that calling pot "an extremely addictive and pernicious substance" and we stop listening. That's how it works. You cannot exaggerate. You can't tell us smoking weed will shrink our brains and make us retarded. It's not true so we don't listen. When it's justified, go ahead and say it. But when it's not you have to calm. The. Fuck. Down. It's so weird how he never put that together and no one ever called him on it. I tried but they didn't let me on the air. Maybe others tried calling in to tell him that too but none of the guests or anything ever did. Consequently, he never reached millions of kids he could have. Let that be a lesson to anyone who has kids. You want to reach them? Don't exaggerate. They will never forget it once you do it.
