  • Our visit to Lahic Azerbaijan. Lahic is a pretty, laid back village in the foothills of the Caucasus mountains. It is famous for its beautiful scenery and its skilled copper smiths who are masters at all things metalwork. It's a very relaxed place to chill for a few days.
    We hitched a ride up the dramatic road to Lahic and stayed for 2 nights to explore the village and its surroundings. We then took a local marshrutka (minibus) back to Ismayli afterwards to travel on to Sheki.
    We'd tried to get a bus there from Ismayli but after waiting at the roadside we were offerred a free ride from a local passing by. People are like that in Azerbaijan - Extremely friendly!
    We didn't take any footage of the guest house we stayed in. To be honest it was a very run down place but we are told it is the cheapest in town at 10 Manat a night per person - US$5.90. Breakfast was 3 Manat extra and dinner is 5 Manat. If you don't mind rickety, springy beds, an outside toilet and no shower then go for it.
    It's in the Lonely Planet and the owner is Hidayet Hajidev. He's a nice guy and loves a chat! His number is - 050 632 0732

    Dear! You worked a lot on your videos but why you get fewer Subscribers? I am amazed.

      Thank you for the kind thought! Maybe we're not glamourous enough? 😂 It could also be because we don't have a drone or a selfie-stick, we use basic phones and cameras, and free video editing programs. I've read also that RUclips favours channels with subtitles added so that could be something we work on 😁 Let us know if you have any suggestions on possible improvements 🤔😀

      @@FrugalTravellers First of all you should add TAGS in your videos, see for example if you visit Khiva in Uzbekistan: you should not just write Khiva in your Tags but also write other names (for example Khiva Uzbekistan, beautiful khiva, summers in khiva, winters in khiva, khiva history , khiva to nukus etc).

    • @bucketlisttrek3863
      @bucketlisttrek3863 4 года назад

      Secondly place your videos in various groups example twitter, whatsapp groups, etc. There are a lot of ways.

      I just visited two countries and got about 856 subscribers. I got none for the past 10 months because I am tired.

      @@bucketlisttrek3863 Thanks for the tips about growing the channel. We do use tags but probably not as much as we should and it's a good call to use more platforms to expose the videos. We do share on our Facebook page and use Instagram but haven't used Twitter or WhatsApp. We've just kind of allowed it to grow organically as aren't really motivated by monetisation. Just sharing the love of travel! 😍

    Hey,I am planning to Visit this place in Aug.How did you go to Lahic from Baku? Where did you stay? I m planning to stay in Ismaili .How far is Lahic from there?

    • @FrugalTravellers

      Hi. We went from Ganja to Lahic via Ismaili. Marshrutka to Ismaili then we tried to get a Marshrutka out of Ismaili but waited a while on the road and put our thumb out. Ended up getting a free ride to the Lahic junction then another driver offered to take us up to Lahic for free. Lovely people! There is transport information on our website. frugaltravellers.com/sheki-azerbaijan/
      Info on where we stayed is written below the video. We recommend downloading the maps.me app which is great for finding directions and distances. Ismaili to Lahic is only 32km.

      Lahij is a village of Ismayilli region. From Baku to Lahij is around 2 hours by car (taxi can cost you some 50 manat). Busses are going to Ismayilli from Baku International bus station (near metro station 20 January). Bus may cost 10 manat maximum). Some 2.5 hours travel. Enjoy
