Hi Phil, great video. I’ve been messing around with Djay all day (I’m not a professional DJ, I just want to do it as a hobby). But it has just come to my attention that you cannot save or export your mixes if you used Spotify. Do you know if there are any loopholes to this and I can use a USB or something to get it on to my laptop or is it illegal to do so if Djay doesn’t have a Spotify license? Because I’ve made some pretty sick mashups today, if I do say so myself, and it would be so annoying if there was no way to save them to my phone/laptop. I also need to find out if the songs I’m using are copyrighted because I want to post my mashups onto RUclips if possible. Oh and are there any specific gadgets I should invest in for what I’m trying to do? Sorry for the long question I’m just really baffled by this 😂
You're right that it's down to licensing Sophie (why you can't record), the songs will be copyrighted and it's likely your mixes will get taken down if you try to upload them - sounds like you're enjoying it a lot maybe you're ready to progress onto some more "pro" gear and get your mixes out there :)

Do I really need a real dj headphone if I wanna hear the music before I put it on the deck? Because I tried with a regular one, I bought the dj split cable and when the music plays on the headphone, it plays on the speaker. I checked on the settings and nothing works. I have dj pro 2 for windows.
@@digitaldjtips I have the dj splitter cable but I tried it with some regular headphone, maybe that's why it didn't work. I'll get a real dj headphone to see if it will work properly. Thanx.
Important Note: As of July 1, 2020, Spotify will no longer be playable through 3rd party DJ apps. You’ll still be able to use Spotify in djay until the end of June 2020.
Digital DJ Tips that’s great and is there an app or something that would allow you to transport your whole Spotify library over the soundcloud or beat port?
While I agree Spotify is limited in clean tracks there are plenty to be found but it takes digging. The trick is search full song title (dont select the track based on predictive text). Then scroll till you likely find a clean one buried in list. Also to be lazy just type "edited pop" or whatever genre and maybe add year some searches, you'll find some playlists with hundreds of edited tracks already found by others. While you cant find every track you need I have found several hundred so I plenty of options.
@@digitaldjtips Any DJ who has used the Windows version of DJay Pro on a regular basis will tell you: It will crash. A lot. The whole thing just shuts down in the middle of a random song when you least expect it. Happens repeatedly. Makes you look like an incompetent clown. Therefore it's NOT viable. Go to the app store and read a lot of the reviews. You'll see a lot of people saying the exact same thing: Crash and burn. Over and over again. What about all those positive reviews you say? They're from people who have downloaded the software and used it for a few hours. They think it's great and review it on the spot. IT'S GREAT! They say. Too bad they'll find out the hard way that it's actually a piece of garbage in the long run. Apparently, however version 2 (only avail on Apple) doesn't have this problem. Oh well, back to Virtual DJ or just straight-up Spotify.
I'm afraid I can't answer that (especially without knowing what exactly doesn't work) - you can try reaching out to Algoriddim or come join our Global DJ Network and post a video showing your issue: djtips.co/family :)

@@digitaldjtips I’m thinking of switching to SoundCloud Premium instead of Spotify for this reason.
Hey there, In this video you guys are saying 20$ but in internet says 55€ or something like this... what is the price exactly and where should I get it then please..???
Thank you
It depends on what state and country you are.
Can I save the mix that I create?
Like I just let the music the wohle day without remix the musics together all time
I hope you understood me 😫
Hi :) Do you mean can you automix tunes and have a recording of it?
@@digitaldjtips Yes, exacly
Hi, I just learnt that we will not be able to use Spotify for Dj on ipad after 1st July, 2020. Can you help me with that?
That's correct, if you want to use streaming services you'll most likely want to move to Tidal
@@digitaldjtips what is Tidal? I just discovered your video and have loved this being able to use with my Spotify on my note. I was looking at a ddj-400 because of compatibility with Spotify. Is that not the case now?
Tidal is a streaming service like Spotify, Spotify is being removed from all DJ software in the next few weeks
@@digitaldjtips What about Soundcloud go+?
Nothing is changing with Soundcloud
Yes! If I don’t have a song that someone has requested and I use Spotify to get the song, is that illegal?
Depends where you are in the world as to what they law is and how it is interpreted/applied. We see countless DJs using Spotify for those "difficult" requests, though.
Digital DJ Tips Thank you!
DDJT are correct, but in short: Usually not
Totally off subject but need help here..please
I have a question and I have Asked All The DJ’s I know (6) and even Tweeted Serato & Pioneer,
I have the SX2, but this is a Serato Question,
I know about midi mapping BUT, I like to have my echo effect using 2 other effects, the shorter delay and I can’t Remember The other lol, anyways,
Is there anyway to midi map all three effects as a preset on a button. Knob or pad..
I have to always keep going in and setting it up again manually everytime I start a mix, scratch or set..
PLEASE HELP..
It’s the only thing I can’t get right..
Cheers
Dave aka Xpressive D’
I have ABSOLUTELY no idea if this might work, but if you're using Mac you could take a look at the Automator utility supplied with macOS.
Pls how can I get dj drop
Radio drop on dj name's
Like dj blaze
You can buy from musicradiocreative.com/
Have the freeze bug been worked out of djay2 for iPad 2 I use iDJ Pro controller with that combo and was wondering?.....
not sure TBH.
Everything is great and all but... how does this stand with Spotify user license? I mean, I know this can be technically done but is it actually "legal"? Any idea how this works in this regard? Big thanks for any answers :)
It is often technically not legal to DJ from Spotify in public. Many people do.
Do I really need a real dj headphone if I wanna hear the music before I put it on the deck? Because I tried with a regular one, I bought the dj split cable and when the music plays on the headphone, it plays on the speaker. I checked on the settings and nothing works. I have dj pro 2 for windows.
I'm not sure I'm 100% following you but yes it needs to be DJ splitter, if not it'll do exactly what you've said (play the track through both sources)
@@digitaldjtips I have the dj splitter cable but I tried it with some regular headphone, maybe that's why it didn't work. I'll get a real dj headphone to see if it will work properly. Thanx.
You can also buy a controler and buy djay on you computer. And then dj :-)
And indeed you should! If you decide this game is for you....
Important Note: As of July 1, 2020, Spotify will no longer be playable through 3rd party DJ apps. You’ll still be able to use Spotify in djay until the end of June 2020.
Yep, sad news!
BON music Why!? :(
Anyone know of any other streaming apps that would be compatible?
Soundcloud go and Beatport Link
Digital DJ Tips that’s great and is there an app or something that would allow you to transport your whole Spotify library over the soundcloud or beat port?
What app did he use
Djay - though it's worth noting they no longer support Spotify
@@digitaldjtips do you know of any way to dj with spotify nowadays? doesnt have to to be with dj software, is there anyway
@@digitaldjtips maybe a third party plug in, or other audio software
No there isn't
I would like more tutorials, teach-to's using Pioneer Wego 3 and Day Pro. Please.
Can this link to serato from Samsung?
No
@@digitaldjtips cool then its for sale...
Link to download the Djay Pro please...
www.algoriddim.com/
Can you do this with serato pro
No, there is currently no streaming service inside Serato.
Hello Friend, how about the DRM protection? won't work on Spotify?
No you're fine to DJ with Spotify tunes this way :)
I wondered if I can use a window laptop but I’m not sure if there’s a app for djing for a window laptop....very confused
Definitely, most DJ software also works on Windows :)
I Like it
No wifi no party 😂😂
True (or 4G)
The only problem with Spotify is all hip hop are dirty is hard to find clean version
That's a fair point :)
Does DJayPro work with Windows OS?
Yes, there's a Windows version.
@@digitaldjtips and Android
From windows 10 up
@@digitaldjtips Any DJ who has used the Windows version of DJay Pro on a regular basis will tell you: It will crash.
I got Algorithm Djay djay pro al and tridal and it dosent work?? why??
I'm afraid I can't answer that (especially without knowing what exactly doesn't work) - you can try reaching out to Algoriddim or come join our Global DJ Network and post a video showing your issue: djtips.co/family :)
I have this APP, the main flaw, which you failed to mention, is you require an internet connection for this to all work. Many a time my screen has frozen, every thing stopped while entertaining a group of people. I emailed the developer of the APP who could not solve the issue. Regards.
Sorry we didn't mention this, see the comment thread below for previous discussion on this point - Thanks :)
can I sae my mix?
No you can't Manuel
you can connect an external recorder, but as long as you are playing from spotify, it's illegal :)
