What happened (I am ex British Army) was that the shooter Thomas Crooks shot at Trump but missed as he was a lousy shot. he hit the teleprompter instead and sent pieces of glass flying and 6 of Trump's security team got hit and they reported the injuries so we know they are real.
They were standing within feet of Trump so Trump also got hit and a piece of the glass nicked his ear. Initially if you look close enough you can see a small dot of blood where the wound is and then as he then dives to the stage and then gets up the amount of visible blood increases.
Trump wore the Maxi pad to his ear and refuses to release his medical files as he does not want any of us to see the truth that he cried about getting a cut that is les severe than when I cut myself shaving.
