Yes, it looks like I have the exact same unit - one of my neighbors selling her home dumped off a load of food supplies, lamps n what-not and this scanner when she packed her house up to move. It is a prized possession to hear what is going on in a fairly busy town. You just have to remember to shut the thing off before you're off to the slumber land of sleep since you'll forget it's turned on while it's quiet most of the time with no one transmitting but it will surely wake you up cold when police/fire are transmitting and that will be at any hour in the evening randomly through any of the early A.M. It's no fun then.. lol
What I don't understand about the PRO-2018 is the lack of battery backup for the programmed channels. I understand that EEPROMs were expensive at that time but a 9 volt battery door was very common on units before.
The one in this video was purchased back in the early 2000s so it’s close to 20 years old. The memory still work when I plugged it in in 2017 at my house all the memories were still there and I believe inside there is a watch battery C216 or something? I have 2meter radios from the 1980s. That its battery still holds memories. So it’s interesting like you said.
@@mikecricket113 sweet and thank you ha i did not know that if you are intrested on being a skywarn spotter go to your local weather spotting classes classes are free
Okay, quick question. I have this exact scanner, it was given to me but the antenna is missing, so I didn't complain:) However, I can only hear static and I'd like to have a basic scanner to keep on like our grandparents did back in the day; if you know what I mean. Any suggestions? Also, I live in the Appalachian Mountains of Western North Carolina, close to the TN and VA border if that helps. Thanks...
Great to hear from you. I would suggest getting an antenna that plugs into the rear of the unit. You should see the port on the back. It’s for external antennas. I picked up a kit with 5 different adapters on Amazon. Has rca, n-type, bnc, sma, and uhf connectors adaptors. You can look on Amazon it was around eight bucks. Yes it’s great to use. I use mine for local ems and fire companies and most I use it to listen to my local repeaters. Hope this helps
@@mikecricket113 Hey Mike - Thank you for checking back, it got me off my butt to test the squelch setting and YES that "fixed" what wasn't broken:-) Now if I can just find my notes my tow truck buddy gave me years ago I can monitor the not advertised police frequencies around here. Thanks again!😀

How do you turn the light disply on or off - can you manually turn it on or off
With this model the light stays on during operation. You can see the on and off switch for the unit , on the left by the knobs.
I just bought this exact same model but I know nothing on how to operate it. Do you have any tutorial videos?

@@mikecricket113 Yes, that's great and I didn't even know I could buy the antenna separate:)
Hi There, dug mine out today and can't seem to get in into scan mode. It says SCAN but isn't rapidly running through the channels. Thoughts?
Knob to the right is your squelch. Make sure you have it set so you hear no static. Say like 1/4-1/3 turned up. Then the scan will or should go
Hope that helps
I’ll try that. Thanks for the reply 😀
Just checking back on your Issue. You’re welcome and did it start scanning for you ?

The good old day's.
How do you reset the whole scanner??
Don’t know I lost the manual 15 years ago. But I’m sure if you did some digging on the internet you can find the manual
whats the distance like how far can you listen on this?
Well depends. I use it to listen to local repeaters. But also 10 meter Fm simplex. And gotten people from southern and northern states.
Most annoying question every radio person gets constantly right there.
@@fried1537 says you. i was curious.
Cant find part 1???
It’s in the video catalog. Probably near the bottom. Sort videos by oldest.
TURN DOWN the scanner while you are talking... can't hear what you say. VERY ANNOYING!
Thanks
