- Motorized camera sliders are definitely one of those must-have tools for getting smooth motion shots, especially for product shots, b-roll, or if you want to film yourself and no one else is around. In this video, I'm gonna show you the MOZA Slypod Pro by Gudsen, a monopod that is also a motorized camera slider and also can work like a jib. It's great!
So if you're on the lookout for a motorized camera slider, look no further.
For the tripod and tripod head that I use, and any other useful accessories that you can use with the MOZA Slypod, check out my kit bit.ly/3AKO0cz
Disclaimer: Gudsen didn't send me the MOZA Slypod Pro, I bought it myself and I love it more and more every time I use it!

Great review, halfway into this video today... I went ahead and ordered mine. I've been on the fence, but such a well done review made me roll with it. Thanks!
Nice! 😁
Definitely will be getting one in a few months, looks like exactly what I need.
Amazing!
Hi Tamara, this slider has lots of mixed reviews and that led me to your video. Many claim that it vibrates, or shakes quite a bit, is your sample footage stabilized in post-production, or is it that smooth without post? Will it support the 40 lb capacity in the horizontal move, or is that just verticle. Thank you, and thumbs up on a great job!
I haven’t used stabilisation in post, it’s all footage straight from the camera on the Slypod. In terms of vibration, I think that will come down to the speed at which you set it and how stable it is. The wider the tripod legs are when you have it on a tripod, the better. Also you need a tripod that can withstand a heavy payload.
Great video. Love the simple, clean style. Subscribed.
Thanks! ☺️
I just got a slider but I think I’ll return it and get this. I like the fact that I don’t need multiple tripods or braces making it easy to setup and there’s no track to get in the way. Plus you get a jib too
Literally been watching all the reviews on this since January started. Glad to hear your take on it.
Do you think you'll get it?
@@TamaraGabrielUK I think so eventually . I’d like to see how you’d use it more with something like the Pocket 2. I would be using this as a self filming b roll tool
Yeah for sure, definitely keep an eye out for a video with this and the Pocket 2 then because it's on my list of videos to create 😉
@@TamaraGabrielUK ok great! Thanks will do! Keep up the great work 🖤
I absolutely love mine, add the 24mm probe macro lens to the camera and you can get some really interesting footage of an effect with the the camera going “through” things.
Now that is a lens I've had my eye on! Maybe now I can justify getting it 🤔
I'm wondering if I can achieve similar shots using a hand-held gimbal instead?
On a pole?
@@TamaraGabrielUK Yes, on monopod or perhaps even holding a tripod.
You can definitely do jib-like shots with a handheld gimbal and monopod/pole but it's not gonna be as smooth or precise as using a dedicated slider/electric monopod like this Slypod. But if you couldn't get this then the gimbal solution is a good one. I've done it before using my Pocket 2 and a monopod.
Hello! I use slypod-e, and this pro is a great slider that has evolved even further! It's a very stable and wonderful image! I subscribed to the channel. Thank you.
Thanks so much! 😊
Not sure how I've just now found your channel, but u got my sub, great vid!
Thanks so much! 😊
Another nice review, glad it's carbon fibre & easy to set up! Your look of dissatisfaction at the noise on full speed was funny!
I guess I can stop using my nans walking stick & gaffa tape now! 😃👍🏾
😂
Love this! Thanks Tamara! 🙌🏻
No problem ☺
cant wait to see the aircross + slypod video
I'll hopefully have it up in a few weeks!
RUclips recommendation! Very well put together 👍 I need this one
Thanks! It's definitely been one of those things I've bought and not for a second questioned whether it was the right decision.
Hi Tamara
Enjoy your video’s
Do you have any links to the slypod pro?I have looked but Amazon say no delivery in uk & eBay says it’s sent from china so unsure if it’s a genuine item
Thanks for any input
I thought I was a gear junky. You have all pro gear. I'm 20 something years in the video game and I'm still using prosumer gear for the most part. I just hate being weighed down and I'm not really doing gigs... just vlogging now.
Anyway I've always been intrigued by this piece of gear but I wasn't sure if it stored and traveled well. Is it bulky and heavy with the minimal gear you need to use it?
I love gear, probably a bit too much 😅 So I carry my camera, mic, a couple of lenses, carbon fibre tripod, fluid head, and this Slypod and I don't feel weighed down at all. The Slypod isn't heavy. Plus if you get the Slypod E, you can pretty much carry it in your backpack in one side pocket and then have your Tripod in the other side pocket.
@@TamaraGabrielUK are you a travel vlogger? All that stuff sounds like hell and nerve racking getting on and off planes, trains and automobiles. Maybe I've gone weak and soft in my old age. I want the smallest and lightest tool that can give me the best results. That's not always pro level but good enough to tell stories without filming with a total potato.
With my channel it's mainly the gear reviews and filming tutorials, so I do use all that gear for those videos. I am going to be starting to vlog more this year too alongside the gear and tutorial content, but for the vlog I'll most likely just take my DJI Mini 2, Pocket 2 and the ZV-1 (or ZV-E10 if I end up getting that). When I take all that other gear I mentioned, it's usually because I'm going off to film dedicated stock footage so I need the best quality possible. But for any other filming (other than client work or documentaries) I'm all about simplicity for sure, especially if I've got a toddler with me.
I just got mine today used but got a good deal on it.. I cant wait to start using it ..Junk is sick
Have fun!
Great vid thanks! Can you use it for timelpase?
Thanks, yes you can.
Love this video Tamara!
I use alot of the same gear as you do, do you have the upgraded Peak Design Plates? I have the standard squares and they don't seem to work on the DJI RS2.
Thanks so much for your time.
Thanks 😊 Yeah I also found that the regular square PD plate doesn't work you need the dual V2 plate, you'll see it in this kit list kit.co/TamaraGabrielUK/youtube-filming-rig-setup-2022. Otherwise, what I use instead is the SmallRig Arca Swiss plate which works with the standard square PD plate, you'll find it in this kit kit.co/TamaraGabrielUK/dji-rs2-rig
@@TamaraGabrielUK Yep, thats what I thought but I didn't want to grab them if they didn't work! Love my Peak Design Gear and didn't want to worry about switching things out!
Thank you for the response! Lets keep making videos!
No problem 😊
nice review recently ordered one myself . Reference the Komodo K5 Fluid head how are you finding it ? Looking at a fluid head for filming but the reviews on the Komodo head been mixed on Amazon for the price about it not been that smooth for panning ?
Thanks! I found the K5 to be pretty smooth. I only really use it with the the Slypod though as I have a manfrotto fluid head on my main tripod that I use when just fliming with my camera rig. But for the Slypod and having a lightweight fluid head when I'm out and about, the K5 has been perfect for me.
Hi Tamara. Love from the Philippines♥️🇵🇭
Hey 👋🏾😊
Thanks for sharing!
No problem 😊
Ah damn, been wanting to get this and as soon as it was out of my mind this review. Good review tho.
Haha, sorry 😅
Nice video I learned something new
Awesome! 😊
Slypod pro の動作音が気になってました。
こちらの動画が大変参考になりました。
ありがとうございました😊
Thanks for the review. I’m on the fence. I have a motorized slider but it’s a pain to set up for simple shots, and isn’t mobile. How long would you say that battery lasts?
No problem. In terms of battery, it's supposed to last up to 5.5 hours. In several sessions without charging in between, I've definitely filmed close to that without it dying, but I tend to charge mine at the end of the day anyway.
@@TamaraGabrielUK Thanks for the reply.
😊
What tripod do you recommend for use with slypod pro?
I use the Peak Design Carbon Fibre Travel Tripod.
Hi, Will it work on DJI RS3 Gimbal?
I’m actually digging this. Would be nice on interviews. Might cop this when I get my tax refund back lol. Thank you!!!!!!
Perfect way to spend tax! 😁
Thanks so much for sharing cheers
No problem 😊
thanks for the video!
No problem 😊
@@TamaraGabrielUK just found ur channel, im loving the content
Thank Lov for review
You're welcome 😊
That’s neat but they need to work on that noise 😂 Seems like there would be times (for me anyway) that i would want to record the live audio while using the slider.
Yeah, it's pretty loud at high speeds, but it's OK at slower speeds, can barely hear it.
Can you program it for interview scenarios to loop back and forward?
Yep, this is something you can do in the app. Once I've got the app working I'll put another video together - my phone's acting a bit weird with many apps at the moment so I couldn't show it working in this video.
@@TamaraGabrielUK yes please, I'd love to see a video in action using it in a few scenarios and how to program it via app, thanks for your response
No problem 🙂
Great where can i find the remote?? the name? thx
It's just called the Moza Wireless Remote Controller for Slypod.
@@TamaraGabrielUK thank you!
No Problem 😊
I want one, think it will be super handy for quick broll but that price... can't quite justify it yet but I have my eye on it
Unfortunately, the Slypod Pro is not nearly the amazing gear some of you reviewers keep saying that it is. I had it, and it was more hassle than help. The app is garbage, crashes constantly, and is very confusing to use-and don’t even try to use the gimbal combo or you’ll spend 15-20 min trying to set up a simple A-B movement. The Slypod absolutely requires a heavy tripod for stable use-and if you want the best results it can offer, you’ll need two. Imagine carrying two tripods PLUS the Slypod to every location where you want to use it. In studio, sure no problem. It’s already set up. But in the field?
The extension on the Slypod is not particularly impressive. If you’ve got a light camera, you can go the full length. If you’ve got a heavy camera rig, you’ll need to invest in a far stronger ball head than the one Moza includes with the Slypod. Add that to the total carrying weight of everything else you’re packing with the Slypod. Also, despite the “Pro” moniker, the Slypod actually has a much lower carrying capacity than the original-which is about half the price.
There have been numerous complaints about this product, its limitations, and the awful app…for at least a year. Moza has done nothing to fix the inherent issues.
While I love the concept, the execution is severely lacking, and this this has a very specific use scenario. For $500 and the “Pro” name, we should get far better.
I can completely agree with you that the app is very buggy and cumbersome to use. I use the remote instead as I feel it's the best way to use the Slypod. I do still think it's a great product in terms of the results you can get with it, but I particularly like to use it for vertical movement in the monopod mode, for that I do think it's great and the footage looks awesome. But you're right, Moza need to address the app issues especially to make it easier to use with the gimbal, because I agree it's too much of a hassle to try to get both working together, I've tried several times now since having the gimbal, and I just gave up using them together because it takes too long. You've actually prompted me to pull my finger out and do the follow up video I've been planning, so I'm gonna try and do that in the coming weeks 🙌🏾
I wish black girls in the USA were as sophisticated as you. Our Vice President is so crass compared to you.
