Thank you, thank you for posting this video. I rode this carousel as a young child with my grandfather when it was in Hunting Park in Philadelphia in the early 1950's. I had assumed it was demolished. To see it again half a century later brings tears to my eyes; I remember every feature of it.
Actually, This carousel was originally installed in Hunting Park in Philadelphia and carved by Italian and German artists in the Dentzel facility located near Germantown and Erie Avenues ... it operated in Hunting Park until the Fall 1967 ... it was installed at Cedar Point the following year
Rode on this carousel almost daily as a kid. Grew up in Hunting Park section of Philly. As I young kid thought everybody had a carousel in their neighborhood. When visiting friends out side of the area I would ask them where the carousel was? They would look at me strangely.
@Wurlitzer157 I agree. I really would have loved to have seen a working Stinson organ. So far, I've only heard five organs and they were all WurliTzer band organs. The 103 at Kennywood Park, the 103 and Caliola at Idlewild Park, and now the 105 and 153 (badly out of tune) at the Merry Go Round muse in Sandusky, OH.
+dojiorangejuice2 Not all carousels are populated with horses alone. There are quite a few carousels that are menagerie carousels like this one that have a mixture of different animals. It really is up to the original buyer as to what they want to populate their carousel with.
Personally, I think that not playing the band organs goes against Cedar Fair's original mission. It's so sad that they gutted this one and put a boombox in the empty case. At least the 153 on the other carousel still plays occasionally and gets taken care of...

Question? Why are there other animals on this carousel besides horses?
Because variety is the spice of life.
I grew up riding this beauty as a kid I live 2blocks away from it on Delhi at thank you so much for taking care of it

@woodencoasterfan Sounded like a Wurlitzer 146, the same CD they use at the Midway Carousel
This looks like a fun ride.
its looks like the carousel from kennywood
Well because they are both Dentzels
A couple of those chariots look like the ones on Kennywood's carousel...

Correction .... it was MOVED to Cedar Point the following year.
The organ could be a Wurlitzer 153 (or something of the sort) with a Stinson facade, or totally Stinson, but the facade is definitely Stinson
I know the band organ on the Midway carousel does not operate. Does this one? I cannot tell.
@whoisthisguy724 no, it didn't work either. They're playing a CD of carousel music. I hope it atleast was a recording of a Stinson organ.
this carousel was 9 decades old when this was uploaded. now it's 9 decades and 1 year old!
@whoisthisguy724 That's probably because they were both made by the W.H. Dentzel Carousel Company.

oh, Thats kinda weird but I get it. Though I will always be a fan of the ones with just the horses.

What a shame, the guy who I sent the letter to didn't listen.
Hunting Park. Not Huntington Park.
Who found the organ that you were looking for? I don't know that. Maybe you should get out of here!!!!!
