To sit on your arse while your car runs, waiting in line, blocking traffic... to get fast food... when you find yourself doing this, it's time to reexamine your life priorities.
@@rhomotor It would be considered a parking violation, which is a $100-200 fine. Stick a cop in an unseen place and they'll catch one driver every 5 minutes, and assuming the traffic is always bad for the ~15 hours/day that it's open, amounts to $30,000.00/day, or $10.,950,000/year in fines for one location. Worst case, no one learns and the city makes a ton of spare change, best case, people learn and the officer can go do something else.
Wait until they open their Waikiki location on the corner of Kalakaua Avenue and Kapiolani Blvd, currently occupied by Honolulu Coffee Experience Center. That’s going to create a traffic nightmare for many residents living in that area.
Perhaps Chick-fil-A needs to improve their business model, as they aren't serving their customers quick/fast enough. McDonald's used to have a contest years ago where if customers didn't get their orders quick/fast enough, they would get something free. The line is backing up because they aren't turning over the orders at an expedited rate...time to 'pick-it-up'! After all, nobody likes slow service...it's called FAST FOOD!

Planning and Permitting knew this was going to happen before it was built. But the money was already in the bank so here you are today. Just live with it because Honolulu will never change.
There was nothing done to plan for the line of cars that was anticipated prior to this restaurant being built. A part of McDonald's line for their drive thru is on their property, where as Chick-fil-A has their order taking location at the edge of their driveway.
just make the right lane next to the curb a bus only lane with exceptions for those actively entering/exiting driveways and cite those that linger. and yes, the second lane to the right of the curb will get crowded but it is a 5 lane road after all.
What also causes traffic problems are people going to that Chinese restaurant (Dew Drop Inn) on the corner of Pensacola & Beretania & illegally parking on the street, blocking the flow of people trying to get to the condo or Chick-Fil-A on the right hand lane. HPD needs to start ticketing those jerks!
There are several areas with the same problem. WILSON ELEMENTARY causes this every day after school since they changed pick up rules during covid. Why are they still doing that?
00:43 People who don't know how to merge properly are the #1 creators of traffic on O'ahu; I can't count how many times I've driven through traffic only for it to open up for literally no better reason - not even construction or traffic accidents cause as much hassle. People who slam on the brakes and don't pay attention to traffic several cars ahead of themselves is the #2 reason for traffic; slamming on the brakes causes a domino effect that results in traffic in the back slowing down to a crawl, made worse when everyone stares only at the bumper in front of them and/or are constantly dodging through traffic lanes. People who don't know not to block intersections and driveways during heavy traffic is also a major problem in addition to selfish derps who take advantage of the extra space to cut in line. Law Enforcement seriously needs to expand their Traffic Safety division and position officers in dangerous areas; Americans don't seem to make the connection that they're wielding deadly weapons in their luxury 1.5 ton metallic battering rams. ~50+ pedestrians die on O'ahu every year, and the statistic is apparently increasing. Never mind about gun laws, we need to worry about selfish idiots behind the wheel.

My man!! (Denzel voice)
Precisely this !! ☝🏽
Wasn't this the issue brought up even BEFORE it was constructed??😡😡🤢🤢🤔🤔
Well they said that a study was done prior to construction. Although a study without all the info is bound to fail.
So much for the City consultant study ??? ( what a joke !! )
The traffic is not that bad when the line is long - its idiot drivers that make it bad!
Agree
The sign said "Do Not Block Driveway" 1:47. Put a police officer there citing any blockers.
Chik Fil-a should get fined. They want to avoid the fine, put an employee near the roadway to make sure the condo driveway is not blocked.
Really? Put an officer there? Blocking a driveway is not enough of a reason to put an officer there.

Or stop stuffing their faces with fast food and go exercise. Maybe?

Or u serious bat a chick fll a
Hele gas station in Nanakuli too... pretty crazy the right turn during traffic hours...
POOR PLANNING..bottom line
sure sounds like the same planner that did the RAIL stops....
Simple fix. AMERICA STOP EATING SO MUCH DAMN FAST FOOD!!

McDonalds cheats with the "please pull forward" scam.
Drivers need to find parking and then walk to the restaurant.

LOOK AT THE INGREDIENTS Yikes! The sauce alone check ingredients and calories yuck!
im a KFC and Popeyes guy with REAL Thigh and drummies......not into fillet meat
One of the only valid comments !💪🏽
@@Waynes-xt9grsorry but just a lesser of 2 evils my guy 😭
I just don't see what the problem is. Traffic is bad all over the island.

I stay home and make own food.
Smart person! Always the healthier option !!🤙🏽🤙🏽

Making a stretch of the right lane into a ' bus lane' helps.
we have the same problem at Starbucks Hilo for years now
Before they opened McDonald had that traffic problem
just make the right lane next to the curb a bus only lane with exceptions for those actively entering/exiting driveways and cite those that linger. and yes, the second lane to the right of the curb will get crowded but it is a 5 lane road after all.
Feed Da Pigeon Da Rice!!!
Easy solution: ban drive thru across the state
Same problem at Waikele near McD and Chili's.

This is a planning and permitting issue and failure causing more cost for businesses. Speak the truth when reporting.
The traffic is still bad

It's the sauce that makes you come back.
Gonna have to add another to maybe alleviate the traffic issue.

Nasty azzz food. I can't understand why anybody would wait in line for it.
Honolulu's Smartest
Imagine eating fast food 💀
🤮🤮🤮
Make it into another bike lane that next to no one uses .... Problem solved 😊
If they put 3 bike lanes it will help😂😂
Chic-Fil-A is the biggest chicken scam around. Dried chicken with BBQ sauce. The public is so gullible.
simple solution: bring back burger king
Just go to McDonalds across the street. Cheaper.
and then chik filet... gonna build on kalakaua and kapio... horrible spot....

Imagine if in and burger's opned up LOL
First drivers should not block access to lanes entering a lot. By issuing citations to drivers blocking access this might be the solution
It just a chicken sandwich.
What's so special about Chick Fil A?
#1 Haoles talking about “aloha spirit” is 🙄.
#2 the food not even worth waiting in that line, no thanks, get plenty better places for get food.
How about building one in Kapolei or Waipahu? I bet people would drive to a drive thru chik fil a if there were more locations
Thier is one chick fil a in east kapolei and thier gonna build another one at the actual kapolie next the old newly renovated kapolei theater
Almost hit a cop while he was directing traffic for that overrated chicken.
Why is it so popular there? The line in ala moana mall when we went there a few years was ridiculous.
