- Here is the 3rd installment of season 2 of my “History Of” series
In this video I go over the history of the mascot of the university of Alabama crimson tide Big Al the Elephant, as well as some other Crimson tide mascots.
This video idea goes back to late 2021 when I was trying to figure out what other Mascots I wanted to cover in the next season of the history of series. I definitely wanted to do another college mascot but I didn’t know who, there’s so many good ones it would’ve been hard to pick. I then remembered Big Al and how much I like Alabama’s mascot so I went with him (not to mention he was referenced in the Louie video and some people wanted to see me talk about him)

Would like to see other colleges such as Arkansas Razorbacks, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, and any other Alabama Colleges. You do an excellent job with your videos. Especially University of Alabama's Big Al.

I'm not sure if I'll watch this video and I already looked up pictures of this mascot and I think the newest version of him is cute. May I please also suggest a future video idea? I would like to suggest maybe doing a video about the history of inflatable mascots and what makes them fascinating to fans.

I thought Hairy Dog was their macot and UGA was symbolic for the team name.

I had always assumed that the elephant was inspired by TUSC-aloosa and that Big Al was short for ALabama.

I guess it’s because it’s just too iconic and recognizable to change. Also they probably can’t add too much weight onto the trunk
