Went to college with this guy. He was in my jazz choir. He was graduating and it was my first year. He sang and played his arrangement of I am Singing by Stevie Wonder and we were in complete wonder when he sang. This was at least 20 years and I still remember how he made me feel. He’s truly magic.

New album should net Mr. Lawson a Grammy nod at least when the time comes, more than enough to finally break him through to a wider audience. I agree, it's among the very best male R&B/Soul releases I've heard all of last year-right up there with Kem's 'Love Always Wins', Gregory Porter's 'All Rise', and Roachford's 'Twice In A Lifetime'. Six years was a fairly long time to wait between albums, but like Kem before him it was most definitely worth it! Diggin' the soulful simplicity and directness of the title track/music video, no doubt Jarrod's record label is lookin' out for him in the best possible way these days. Talk about a welcome relief for a change, whew...

What I appreciate is the missing harmonies in the chorus first time through. Jarrod singing "Be the change..." on his own makes a real impact when you hear the beautiful harmonies in second chorus. Nice production...
