woah that’s awesome! do you think you’ll end up staying for a longer period or are you thinking about maybe moving somewhere else (in or out of japan)? what is something you wish you knew before packing and finally travelling to japan?
In all your experiences try to look deeper. You'll naturally have the foreign tourist reactions/impressions from a lot of experiences, but give yourself time to process There's a lot of complications and difficulties, but once you're there long enough you'll be able to gain such an appreciation for the many great things there and the peace that being there can bring. I was there in my mid-late 20's and looking back at around 40, there's so much I took for granted and didn't appreciate, and now I'd do anything to get back there to stay if I could. It can be great for introverts but difficult for extroverts with language/culture barriers. Forgot to ask--how did you end up getting over there? (School, work, family connection, ect?)
thank you very much for the advice! i will take it to heart and reflect on it. i am currently on a student visa but plan on changing it to a working visa as soon as my program ends. i’ve tried to become just purely an english teacher but it was cancelled due to various reasons such as covid and other circumstances out of my control. moving and living in japan has been my dream ever since i was 13 and ive been hard stuck on it. i’ve been technically self studying on the language as well as the culture for many years so i know a lot of the well known things about the country like the work culture, the politeness, as well as certain customs during certain gestures. yet after all of that, i am still learning so much and it’s genuinely exciting to wake up and explore what the world has to offer.
yeah actually when i landed, narita was pretty decent. i didn’t show this but there were a couple of foreigners fighting the security guards because they cut in line. other than that, it was great!
Congrats bag! Have fun out there
thanks abs :))
Japan is amazing!
I moved to Tokyo 11 months ago
