Good testing Buffallo. Stay safe and warm.
Velocities were far more consistent than when you tried the federal bulk pack hence far better groups
As long as you are consistent with your measuring method, it is a fair comparison.... Good video!!
Exactly! Well said.
Great job as normal ups says my CZ527 17 hornet will arrive tomorrow I can't wait to get it out and sight it in this weekend
Don't apologize to the cry babies
Beautiful gun, it’s amazing how good those things shoot, it might not like that ammo but that’s still some good shooting
Since you have all this data, it would be interesting to revisit some of the results from this summer to demonstrate how ambient temperature effect 22lr ammo. I have shot 22 in below zero conditions and the performance was very poor. Keep up the great videos!
Shooting 22LR at 32F is frustrating at best. In my 457 At One I found best performance with SK Pistol Match. Every rifle is different. Shooting 22 for precision accuracy can be maddening during best conditions. I'm enjoying all of your videos. Thanks
Thanks for the video. I shot some 22lr. years ago named Hanson. Was the best i found back then. I wish it was still made. It shot really good out of my rifle and pistol.
I have been trying to get a very similar CZ. Daggumit everyone is sold out
It's in stock at buds gun shop 709$
Keep looking man, you'll find one I am sure. The wife and I have gotten a lot of enjoyment out of this one already.

@@WHOTEEWHO I'll trade you mine for a PSD. 😉😉😉👍👍👍
Gunbroker is your friend. And fiend. Just depends.
I appreciate your video. Thanks. I suggest a 25 shot group is more valuable than five, five shot groups. It will give you a clearer idea of the shot distribution for that load. Also as shooters we need to stop calling flyers. Flyers are the part of our shot distribution that we don’t like but they need to be part of the equation. Obviously they’re your videos and you should do what you want. Just something to think about and thanks again
Nice video Buffalo. Love to you from the Shenandoah Valley
Thanks for spending the $$$ so we don't have to. My CZ's have always preferred SK Rifle Match and Standard Plus at 50-100 yds. This is such a bonus that I don't need to buy the $20bx + stuff too.
I had the same reaction as you with the flyers. Whoa!!
"LA - POO - A",,I'm just taking a wild guess,,lol. That is a good looking rifle.I almost bought a CZ rifle chambered in 7.62 x 39 eariler this year.I wish I had got it instead of the Ruger in the same caliber. But I guess we live and learn.
You can send your rifle to Lapua in either Arizona or Missouri (I think). They will test which Lapua ammo and lot best matches your rifle. Unfortunately, they only test Lapua ammo and then you have to buy a minimum of 5,000 rounds of your choice. The test costs $50.
HAHHA. Lapua! I pronounce it the same as you. I just bought 100 box of Lapua 3006 brass. Good stuff, but pricey. Try some Eley black box match. Clint Swigert in Kentucky sells it, great guy.
That was fun Buffalo, thanks for bring us along
Great info. Will save me a lot of money at $20.00 a box. So far for my mtr, likes RWS Target Rifle at $5.99. It is running .35 and no flyers so far. I’m 73 and using a Discovery scope on 12power so it might do better with younger eyes and better optics. Thanks again.
Thanks for the great content!
7/16. Four out of five at fifty. Love your videos. Great approach . keep up the good work.
You’re pronouncing Lapua correctly 😂
Yes. Pretty close as we would pronounce it here in Finland. u letter little shorter and thats it. Now it sounds like Lapuua for natives.
I watched a video where an american guy tryed to say anti air. But the way he said it was anti i r. It was all uphill after that.
Exelente video, saludos desde Argentina
Love my CZs (I have 9 452s plus a Brno Model 1) and they all love SK Standard. Thanks for the video!
I believe you will discover a brand of ammunition that provides good accuracy at a much lower price. Keep your eye on the most consistent average velocities over all 25 rounds. It is a good indication that tells you some important information. I tested one brand of ammo that produced an average deviation of 6 feet per-second. That was amazing consistency and so was cost of the ammo. I then; tested others to see what they produced. I stayed away from bulk packs and stuck to boxed ammo. Just figured dumping ammo in cans and boxes might cause some issues. I was on the frugal side being a penny-pincher; the fewer boxes of $25 dollar 22 shells I needed to buy the better. I talked to quite a few old target shooters and none cleaned their barrels. Unless their accuracy fell off or they stored their rifles for long periods of time. They said if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. They said; it takes fewer shots to season your barrel if you don’t clean the bore than if you do. So that’s what I did too. I just cleaned chamber and action if it needed to be cleaned. As best I could tell it worked okay. You are hooked on shooting tiny groups now; if you want to clean your rifle the way you like; it likely makes no difference. They did say it is easy to ding your crown or chamber if not extra careful cleaning a rimfire. That new shooting bench is working out real good looks like. Merry Christmas Dead Eye.
I don't know how to say it either😄. But I really enjoy this series. Great job
👍👍👍 as always Buff! 😃✌️🇺🇸
I had results like this out of my cz with agila ammunition when i was group testing it would shoot best groups of all the ammo i shot but seemed like it would throw one or 2 out of every ten way outside the group.
Don’t let the negative comments affect what you do. The world is full of know it alls. Ignore them.
Just for fun you could run a test with the lowest quality 22LR you can find. Say Remington Thunderbolt. I'd be curious to see what that rifle can do with horrible ammo. We might be surprised, or not?
I have tried 14 different .22lr varieties and nothing costing less than 10 cents per round shot well at 100 yards. If it can't group at 100 I'm not interested. SK Standard is what I run. Good price vrs accuracy. Lapua's ammo shot best but not by enough to justify the price. You should glass bed the rifle and 1/2" MOA is possible with my 457 At-One.
I have a 40x rimfire that loves the popo midas +. I'm kinda tired of lookin and shootin high grade ammo..I've kinda got to the place where I shoot standard ammo in all my 22s. Just save the midas + when I want to shoot bug holes with my 52d winchester or 40x.
I thought that was/is how you pronounce that name...Honest. And darn good/fun shooting.
I was still snickering halfway through your video over the Lapua comment. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Then it dawned on me... where in the world is he finding this ammo I’ve never heard of?! Then I saw the flyers next to a four shot hole and thought... now who really failed here? Buffalo, flesh and blood, or the rifle, a mechanical mesh of steel and wood? 😏😉🇺🇸
It was me it was me! LOL You've convinced me of it!
Love the 22 ammo comparisons. If someone had just shot that 5 shot middle group they would have thought this ammo was awesome. Thanks for going the extra mile.
If the call was the best 4 shots out of 5 it would be very good, but it was like it had a consistent inconsistency?
I would like to wish you and yours Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas my friend 😇🎉
Oh jeez, pronunciation nazis are as bad as the spelling kind! This is a great series, and I can’t wait for the shoot off 👍🏽
Don’t get me wrong that was still great groups, at 50 yards, but not what I would expect for that price. The fliers I’m sure were the ammunition.
You mean your “SEE ZED!”
(I kid!)
Hahaha!
I’m glad somebody knows how to say it properly :p
@@wonderloaf Now while the subject is up here,.. it`s time some folks started learning how to pronounce HORNADY ( HORN A DEE ) then LEUPOLD ( LOO POLD ) and so on.
I refer to these mispronounced words as `lazy speech`!
Always interesting! I can't wait for my new CZ 455 LUX in .17 HMR to arrive, so I can continue with my own shooting tests.
This series is good fun too.
Looks like the Mrs. is right about the SK Standard Plus so far.
I have been waiting so long for testing on this rifle as I am considering it for a competition rifle and cannot afford a Anschutz. Thank you very much! Would love to see what that rifle can do when you use it with a full benchrest competition setup as in a joystick front rest, wind flags etc. If I look at your conditions I am sure it is one of the biggest variables in your groups. With wind flags and weighing your ammunition I am sure that rifle will shoot one hole groups all day.
Looks pretty good👍🏻 I’m debating picking up a brick of the Midas 🤔Iv only tried SK so far.Thinking of trying the SK Rifle match as well Red box.
GOD BLESS SAINTS AND PATRIOTS
Some guns and some ammo just don't get along. That's a fact of life, and it's why it's so important to test several types of ammo before deciding on one for a critical application like hunting. You did a fine job testing this one. Good work!
nice one bufallo , my cz 457 mtr the best group i did , is from RWS PROFESSIONAL - YELLOW BOX , the rifle is cz 457 mtr , i am new in 22 lr and my cz has around 3000 rounds , happy holidays and stay safe
Hi I have one of these MTR's plus the CZ457 varmint. Both shoot identical groups. Have tested plenty of Lapua ammo over the years in all types of Rimfire rifles. Currently the best is SK Long Range Match in the CZ457, 455, 452 models. Lapua Midas plus has fliers from testing I've done. X Act had heaps of fliers, was too expensive no one bought it. it was deleted from inventory in Aus well over six years ago. All of my CZ's will do 10 shot groups @ 50mtrs around the 8.5mm mark. with SKLR Match ammo. Centre-X is also not worth the dollars unless you want to shoot a few dozen different batches to find something acceptable. As with everything Rimfire its all about what the firearm likes.
What’s your favorite pastime?
Precision bench rest .22 or off hand shooting with a .22 lever action? I have a CZ 453 American, for bench rest shooting and I own a marlin 39a . I lean towards the lever action personally.
Buffalo, gotta agree, the expensive Lapua Midas and your CZ are not a happy couple! You used two types of SK ammo and the expensive Olympic Eley Tenex, I recommend you try the affordable Eley Club ammo, not necessarily because it’s a favorite of mine, but like the two different priced SK (and the cheaper was best in your CZ) I think you’ll be surprised with the results of the Eley Club! In any case, you’re videos are always informative, entertaining, and there’s no “BS”... and that makes them worthwhile!
"Go ahead type in your comments about how I'm pronouncing Lapua wrong." Hilarious 😂😃😄. Buffalo you had me laughing at the start. You also have me shopping for a new cz in 22lr. Great video, keep them coming.
You don't have to explain anything to anyone...your videos are always awesome! Thanks for putting some much into it!!
Sir,
Ballistic-X software will measure and analyze your results and provide a digital image report, it will even give you the adjustments required to return the POI grouping to Zero and it costs less than $10 ........ just saying ..... and of course then no smart ass can argue the toss ...... not trying to push the point ... just saying. $10 is not a big investment with as you say "what you've got" .... just saying!
Cordialment

It's hard to believe that such an expensive ammo has such an awful fliers. Do they need rim thickness control as cheap bulk ammunition ? Or their supersonic velocity ( even transsonic - 1072fps) doesnt comlpy with inherent harmonics of CZ 457 barrel ?
Same way I say lapua but that’s how I’ve heard it pronounced on every channel I follow. Great video as always. Love that rifle, hope to get one someday
Nice work. As for how to pronounce the name of the ammo makers, I don't know for sure how to pronounce them, and I don't much care. One more thing. The ammo you were shooting was all going at transonic speed. That will cause a decrease in accuracy. It's best to go subsonic with 22LR. "Severe instability can occur at transonic speeds. Shock waves can cause large-scale separation downstream, increasing drag and adding asymmetry and unsteadiness to the flow around the vehicle (bullet)".
My 455 varmint gets the same group with Federal Champion( blue box)....$2.39 a box.
Maybe you mentioned it already... But just notice you single loading this whole show! Strict accuracy test... okay, I guess you figure there's a risk of bullet deformation feeding out of the magazine?
I guess in the grand scheme, loading direct into the chamber isn't really much slower overall, if you count the additional time of loading the mags first!
Good shooting. I noticed your "flyers" velocities were off slightly. I don't believe it is the rifle, I think it was the ammunition. I would watch the video and look at the recorded velocities. When I've shot Federal Gold Medal over a Oehler 35P, my flyers are rounds that the velocity was slow or off the average by a good margin. All in all, good shooting.
These videos are especially entertaining and edifying. Thanks brother, as always. La-Poo-Ah! You got it!
And don’t forget
Ah- gee- la … lol
Buffalo, you always go above and beyond with your shooting videos and you always have a good variety and awesome content.Nice shooting to and be safe.Happy Holidays!
Have you tried shooting it without cleaning and a dirty bore? Some barrels take longer to settle from cleaning while I have found little change when switching ammo on the first group let alone 25 foulers.
You look disappointed but an honest .6" group avg is better than most rifles/shooters can do. It's just easier to shoot smaller groups with a keyboard.
Too bad the Midas flyers cost as much as those that stay in the group.
Lapua center x try some of that it's only around $12 to $13 a box I have good luck with that.
Just for kicks I hope you try maybe 5 of the brands most of us see as crummy ammo. Or bulk pack ammo, etc. It would be wild if one of them ended up well in your rifle. And for science. Just good ole science. Please consider Buffalo!
I have the same with my cz 455 but with my keppeler k05
No flyers and groeping like your second group except for the flyer
Don't take to long to figure out wether someone know 2hat there doing. You do. I can get four out of five with my varmint. With gemtech subs and aquila subs. I think your thinking. These cz's will shoot. It's just finding the ammo it likes.
I was looking at your cheek weld and you changed it several times. When changing from one target to next the groups changed point of impact. I truly think it is ocular grind issue of the lens and not the gun. I would peer down the scope on bags and without touching the rifle, slightly move my head up and down and left and right and see if the crosshairs appear to move off target. I have a Sightron and they are ok scopes but they do have some ocular lens issue I have noticed. Nice vid and BTW, I have the same set up. I have posted a link to a target I shot with my rig. See post 351 rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?p=11971759
I know it’s a lot of extra work. But next time try loading each round separate and see if that gets rid of your fliers. I was having the same problem and when I tried loading each round separate instead of putting them in the magazine, it really helped. I read it on another site. Sometimes the bullet can get scarred when it is being pushed in from the magazine. They actually make a single shot adapter for your rifle. So that tells me maybe it can be a problem. I like your videos. Thanks for taking the time to make them.
Good test.
Wonder what makes a 22LR rimfire accurate? Probably a dozen factors, but I wonder what can be done to true up the spread....
.22s are frustrating I got 2 455s &a452 varmint we shoot every 2 weeks but we have to shoot the same ammo all of us we been shooting federal automatch for a couple of years and groups seem to vary a lot ,and but for cheap ammo it does well we shoot 3 shoots at the same targets you are using ,we score them diamond 10 ,9 ring&8, but we shoot at least 10 rounds of 3 shot groups i can usually sneak a 30 in at least once every shoot.
I’ve had luck with Wolf Match, which I’ve heard is the same as SK Match. Seems to shoot great in all my target rifles
Hello J. Rob
Wolf Match was produced in Germany by SK, now it is made by Ely in the UK,
Greetings from Germany
For several years I thought it was Lop-wa. Nobody corrected me, probably because they didn't know, either.
Put a Harrels tuner on it-my CZ 457 would always throw flyers-my 50 yard groups went from 1” to 0.25”
You pronounce Lapua quite good for an amerikan. Not right but very good. Greetings from Finland :)
That's one sweet little .22 Thanks for the video 👍👍🇦🇺
Your Rifle came with a test Target and Ammo. Would you share that Ammo and Target to Compare . Keep up the good work and info
Again I seen the velocity on those flyers drop off! For the price you paid for you that ammo, its junk!!!!
Excuse my ignorance but shouldn’t the Midas be gold plated or muffed?
I would stick with the SK. The SK rifle match is also made by lapua, for a fraction of the cost. SK never let me down.
My CZ 455 likes the cheaper Lapua Center X better than more expensive Midas + or Eley Tenex.
Another "gud un" Buff....Looking forward to the best 3 video!
That is exacticly how us hilabillys pronounce that ammo.
Beagleman
Do you / we all, think the 16” MTR would be more or less accurate? (Vs this 20”)
Huh, i had better groups with blaze lrn with a 10/22
So what is the reason for single hand loading each round as opposed to using the magazine? Is it to keep the bullet nose from rubbing on the feed ramp? I would attribute the first flyer on the second group as you moved the rifle to the next target and it hadn't settled in the rest from the adjustment.
Try using Eley Edge. I find it better in my CZ or Anchutz that Tenex and half the price.
I have a cz 457 lux 22 magnum absolutely a tac driver
Don't apologize to picky viewers, vids are excellent!
Nice shootin buff. I don't know if it's worth the 20 bucks a box but just the same good shootin!
Try NORMA match ammo. Mine shoot it great at 50 yards.
Caldwell also makes lil rubber feet for the bench rest spikes. I got some for when i am shooting on a surface other than wood and I don't want to scratch it up.
Hope you all have a great Christmas :-)
I think you're shooting great, something I have noticed with every cz I have owned is that they all shot exactly like this early in their barrel life. One really tight cloverleaf and a satellite. After about 1500 rounds the satellite would eventually draw in and the rifle or pistol would shoot lights out from there. I also rarely cleaned the boars.
So it improved over time?
Looks like the gun is a shooter. The fliers are either the ammo, or you pulled it. This i my intuition after over 50 years of shooting.
Why do you lift your head off the stock each round? Isn’t the accuracy suffering?
Every lot of midas I've ever run does this same crap. Drop shots
I guess you done the best you could. Nice shootin anyways Buffalo.
Do you think you are getting better? Have you tried the Federal Gold Medal?
Figured that the lapua would be more consistent than it was i mean still not terrible for rimfire but the chrono measurements seemed to prove it
this ammo and rifle do not get along. very interesting and erratic behavior. great vid as usual
I have the 457 varmint. I shoot some of the cheapest rounds - Blaser and I get results just like that; always a flyer! To be fair it is my bunny basher and everyone of those is in the nut!
Put a Harrels tuner on it-the flyers go away!
I'd rather see you count them minus fliers, or shoot another set and see what happens.
