  • NEW ED CHERRY - IN THE MOST INTIMATE SETTING YET!!
And the BEST CLOSEUPS so far!
Ed Cherry Trio 2 performs the classic "Polka Dots and Moonbeams” composed by Johnny Burke and Jimmy Van Heusen and popularized by the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra in the 1940's at Mezzrow LIVE in NYC @mezzrowjazzclub8350 on Monday July 15, 2024.
Special Thanks to ‪@iakovossymeonidis9746‬ and @donny_skpsy for giving us the title of this wonderful timeless song. It is indeed beautiful.
This time Ed had his another Great Trio of Mike Boone on Double Bass, and Chris Beck on drums.
THANK YOU to all my great viewers for your wonderful support! My recent LIVE videos with ED CHERRY @ Zinc Bar and Mezzrow 6/3 were so overwhelmingly well received - however THIS TIME I DIDN'T have to SEEK OUT Ed himself AGAIN and keep this Party Rollin'!
Ed's INSTAGRAM POST showed up in my feed the same day only 2 hours before SHOW TIME - and TOLD ME WHERE/ WHEN to GO!!
Ed Cherry is a legendary jazz guitarist known for his work with Dizzy Gillespie from 1978 to 1992, and for his own recordings and projects as a band leader since that time. He is widely known as for his melodicism, exuding a deep expressiveness on the guitar attributed to great singers such as Al Green, Marvin Gaye, and Frank Sinatra.
Last night's July 15th performance was fabulous - but also the MOST INTIMATE Mezzrow performance yet! The entire night was filled with CLOSE UPS and fantastic musicianship from all and a great vibe!
This is the 94th installment of my "Great Performances" series, where I upload my own personal LIVE footage from past concerts of great musical artists I've covered either through written articles and/or direct interviews.
The Ed Cherry Trio 2 is:
    Ed Cherry - Guitar
    Mike Boone - Double Bass
    Chris Beck - Drums

@@andreastroster285 Agreed. There is absolutely no pretentiousness happening with Ed. What you see/hear is the genuine article. 👍🏻

Great player! I would love to know what his signal chain is. Sounds like a slight touch of delay.

YES, Ed told me after the gig he was only using a delay pedal, which is unusual for him. He joked to the audience earlier he was trying to "get a handle" on it.

From my perspective, it was just the right amount of delay. It afforded just a little ambience without becoming a distraction. 👍🏻 I think a lot of people have tired of the overly processed guitar sounds that emanated from the 80’s.

@@kenster3554 Ed said he didn't want to get too used to the delay pedal, after I told him it made his sound fuller than the last time I saw him.

Effects should be used sparingly, like seasoning…never “set it and forget it”. That said, I always like a little reverb on my signal. It’s too dry otherwise.
