6:41 Valve did the exact same thing to Portal 2, 12 years ago, with the light panels. It's basically an image that moves according to the camera position, to look like it's a 3D object, and this optimizes the game a lot.

Saw everything as a great improvement! My onlyyyyy small itch is with the Bomb detonation in CS2, visually the explosion looks nice, but it doesn't feel as destructive as csgo where there's a ton of black smoke, the terrain and camera shakes. If they could add some more to it, or even have assets break or move with the explosion, it'd be amazing. But everything else was very stellar, a well needed improvement to visuals and added game features/mechanics!

It's always amazing to me as an old beta-1.5 player how smokes are used so competitively now - it's good to see. Back in my day they were so utterly useless and hopeless that they were never used; they were only ever bought to decoy a flash (post-Heaton/Element incident), by accident or as a joke. Breaking through choke points was far more difficult back then without the cover of smokes.

I have a feeling it's just a placeholder considering how incredibly basic it looks. But even if it stayed, I wouldn't mind, it's something you rarely ever see or stay nearby for.

It's not so much a graphical masterpiece but a physicals and lighting rework that's impressive. I just hope it runs as well.
4:15 as someone who has done unity shader dev stuff, this is pretty damn cool. I think the smoke is volumetric and not just a texture, but getting it to block out the sun is cool. I'm also curious if it adds to the shadow map to cast shadows. I'd imagine that would be quite a performance hit though, maybe not if someone smart made it lol. These effects with smoke are really "easy" with raytracing rendering but not so much with rasterization.
As someone who never developed shader type stuff, i could instantly tell that this is volumetric. The same physics is applied in, for example, red dead 2. For the clouds.
The more I play CS2 the more I keep thinking: “Man, I wish L4D2 was like this.” This will be revolutionary.
I can only just imagine how good the blood splatters and gibs would look on the zombies, given if it doesn't disrupt performance.

I kinda dislike that the dead bodies and the burnt ground disappear soon after appearing in CS2. They should stay there permanently until the end of the round like destroyed doors and windows. It lets other players know there was a fight there not so long ago so they can assume an enemy is still nearby. Also makes the map look cooler.
The C4 bomb should also blow up and destroy things around it like in CSS
The Burnt ground gives advantage to Darker Models and People can use It for their advantage....I am glad it's temporary

There is no black but there are Blue, Dark green which goes with Dark Background. You don't need to match colours to camouflage. All it takes to make you a bit delayed to see and it's gives you the edge
Because there's no r_cleardecals command anymore which is used to clear things like that in CS:GO
It's going to be interesting to see how pro's use and adapt to new interactions with things like sound design and smoke physics
They will complain and Valve will remove it, haha

For me cs2 it's happier to look at and could be a huge quality improvement for esport viewers.
Not only happier to look, It's feels much better when playing. The games feels much smoother, Much accurate Hit Register, Visibility is Amazing and Shooting feels Crisp as F....
It's nicely visible but somehow unnatural unlike CSGO

its pretty beautiful all the changes they have made...even the small ones most people wouldn't notice that much they still puht detail in it withpout chaning the "game"
as most developers would. Keeping it OG is the way to go with making updates to graphics and damage mods...amazing. As playing Counter Strike since 2002 on 1.6, and even playing the 1.5beta I can say its come a long long way, and its awesome to see how its evolved :) Always will be my # 1 in my books!!!
The smoke effects for CS2 were quite pretty I do say so myself, the way the explosions cleared the smoke was awesome. As well as the bullets clearing a hole, was a great addition! The soccer ball made me laugh...I always try to get a match going In game and see how many people join in!

Only thing you missed was the rag doll differences when you kill an enemy
I know it refers to the dead bodies, but why is it used rag doll for that? (sorry, not english native speaker trying to learn)
They no longer stack, they reverted it. So it's the same as in CS GO
@@misterragger2389 because the corpse is just like ragdoll not a real corpse, it doesnt have a weight, a physic etc. just like a RAGDOLL

@@m4dc4t it’s not the same, it’s an entirely different physics engine so they behave entirely differently even though functionally one could say it’s the same. Same thing as the weapons so still valid to cover in the same context. They appear much more realistic in CS2 and look significantly better, especially since it appears that we won’t have the same weird interactions where someone gets one tapped and flies 5 feet into the air anymore.
Looks like CS2 will be a massive improvement. I really like how the crosshair follows the recoil; that's the best way to simulate controlling a full-auto firearm in a game.
It would make the weapons a lot easier to handle, especially when shooting far away.

I love the quality and how you care for nearest details like 3D bullet holes etc. But I have a question: will there be story about the maps, missions and terrorist and counter-terrorist squads?
The way how smoke works in CS2 looks so interesting! Shooting and using grenades to fan away the smoke could change how we play CS.

@@raystumpfy9431 it wont be game changing, they are recoil controll workshops right now. You still need to move the mouse a certain way. If your aim sucks nothings gonna change.

8:49 Bullets leaving a trail is pretty big, that means that players exiting the tunnel from the left here can see the trails and attack the sniper on the right rather than getting ambushed

It seems that whilst the Bullet decals are much improved, that's not actually new geometry.
As seen from the corner shot, it's Parallax Mapping.
A good example of parallax mapping are the interiors in Spiderman PS4, whilst they are not actually modelled, they appear so.

I'm not even a CS fan, but those smoke effects and interactions are fucking awesome. I can also see new tactics being used with this new system.
The Follow Recoil option looks fun! I remember seeing this system in Blacklight Retribution and wondering why no other FPS employs it.
I hope overtime they beef up the weapon animations, it doesn't have to be super detailed like tarkov and mw2 but a nice glowup would be awesome while keeping it familiar

2:55 i guess this is some balancing reason, but why return dissipated smoke back? I'd at least imagine it'd "come back" from the smoke grenade, the center of it, not just accumilate as if some dark force gathering from outside source... they need to change that, either completely gone, like how smoke clears fire, so would grenade "destroy" smoke grenade, or so that smoke actually comes out of the grenade after this, and not just coming back out of the oblivion.
You could always have everyone save their nades for smoke clearance and render smokes useless completely, it’s reasonable why they did it
@@KhaosInductionCreator And everyone would have smoke for blocking view AND clearing molotovs without them coming back, which is basically twice as useful as a nade, but also doesn't make molotovs come back. That's stupid reasoning, "We have someting twice as useful? Then let's have this thing twice as useless", buffing something op and nerfing something barely used. Nothing reasonable about that.

I like the game series, I've been playing the game since the beginning of 2018, playing Counter Strike 1.6, Counter Strike Condition Zero, Counter Strike Source and Counter Strike Global Offensive... and I love all of these games. You have no idea how hard iit is to inplement some of these features
its not just one update, they used a completely different engine for this, source 2. the engine's development took so long, not cs2 itself.

One thing worries me, the smoke. Yes, yes I know that this depends on the situation and playstyle, but with this update, they have effectively killed the ninja defuse.
It would be nice if there was an animation when the c4 is deactivating, that you can see that he is holding the deactivator with one hand, and the other on the weapon.
but you gotta love how "bomb has been planted" hasnt been changed. and i think its iconic

This is what Valve approves while turning down a portal 3 even tho the writer says he has a good ide for it? if you dident put this next to the old one i wouldnt see a difference at all and i can barely tell the differecne even while doing so.

CS2 Bullet holes on corner bricks artifacting is because they are parallax occlusion textures not actual geometry deformation.

It looks great but with the Zeus electric effect and the fireball from the HE grenade I’m worried this will lead to the game becoming super cartoony in the future. GO, Source and 1.6 had a very gritty feel to them that looks to be most likely on the way out.

Are you using an old update? The smokes looks weird just like on release of the limited test, I believe they look as intended now, without those random huge dark parts in the smoke.

Grenades don't have flames? It's gunpowder yea but there's no oil in a grenade, maybe incendiary ones sure but the one in CS2 is a normal grenade.

Tbh i expected much larger c4 explosion in cs2 with some kind destructive terain animation like walls falling off crates blown away and remain pieces of terain to fly around also weapons and bodies of fallen players aswell
