Have just acquired an oak barrel, which by the sounds of it, when I moved it, has whiskey in it. The barrel is sealed and I need to fit a tap. The question I have is it ok to drink the whiskey?

Tricky one that… I’m not sure I’d take the chance. Any why do you think it’s whisky that’s still in the barrel?

In the year since posting this, have you found that this barrel is useful and sustainable for actually watering a vegetable garden, or is this more of a prop for occasional use? Also, is there any maintenance to keep moss/fungus at an acceptable level for watering?

Following this, as I bought a whisky barrel but my water became really smelly 😕.
I have emptied it and will give a good wash.
I was just wondering if I need to add something to the after to keep it clean.
