A lot of ppl don’t know faith Evans truly admired the Clark sisters they’re the reason she wanted to be a singer. If you must know faith even said that’s how she found her singing voice through them. I loved this 🥰
Ive been drawn to Karen this season is just worshipping to her music. I do like the collab with Faith. I like Faith singing Gospel it brings out her voice more. You can tell she was inspired by Karen. I like if God be for us. Great duet
There is or was a video of Faith singing gospel when she was very young I believe it was from the early 90s and she was standing beside someone who was sitting on the organ voice was absolutely unbelievable. And you are right it sounded a million times better than when she does R&B hip hop. Only a true singer can sing real gospel music and faith is that. I don't know if that video is still on RUclips or not and I wish I had it was absolutely phenomenal. If you had heard her then not saying this is not good because it's amazing you would have snatched your edges clean out and threw them away!
Faith has ABSOLUTELY been influenced by the Amazing Karen Clark Sheard. I believe she has said this herself. In my opinion she sounds VERY much like her in a slightly reductive form. Yet Faith is amazing in her own right. She is my favorite female vocalist.

Patti LaBelle has many levels of power and very skilled as a singer being a solo artist, and group member singing through a variety of Genres. Now Karen is definitely a beast, her mother's training is top notch. But she not taking Patti LaBelle out. Nobody is taking Patti out and time and performances have proved it
Personally, I don’t think Faith sounds like Karen. She likes using her range and going for big notes like Karen, but that’s about it. Her tone is noticeably darker and if anything...she sounds similar to Anita Baker.

Additionally, if you smoke or drink it does darken the voice and limit it's dynamic range sound flexibility etc. I am NOT a vocal student or teacher so I can't describe much more than that regarding the negative affects of substance, age, use and natural decline of the voice due to ageing. :(
