My wife and I lived in the same apartment building. Introduced ourselves and for years, passed by each other for years. One day she had tickets to a TV show taping and asked me if I'd like to go.. Went with her. Next week I took out to dinner as a thank you. The next week she asked me to her place for dinner and it went from there. No expectations at all and 30 years later, still together, married for 26 years. Everybody and I mean everybody I know who met and married on a dating app is now divorced. Sad that in this day and age dating apps have taken over people's emotions and blocks the logical side. It's about the need to be needed, that next level of excitement. Especially true for divorced people/single parents.
Hey Madeline, I hope you're well 🙂I'm a 50 year old guy in the UK and I can tell you that it's the same the world-over. Ive been on the apps for years with very little success. And by that I literally mean maybe 1 - 2 dates a year on average. Some years, absolutely nothing. Just to even get a LIKE is hard enough, let alone an actual match. I personally would love to meet someone organically, because that truly is the best way. But I don't have a big social circle and the few women I do know are taken OR I'm not interested. Being an introvert too means that I'm more than fine with being in my own company and I very rarely feel lonely. I just have the attitude now of just using the apps but leaving it 'open', so that IF I ever meet anyone that way? Great! But if not? I refuse to get bent out of shape about it like I did for years. Maybe now that I will be starting my RUclips journey soon, who knows - I may end up meeting someone that way
Work, school, through friends ... actually, if I remember correctly my cousin met his future wife at a wedding reception, she was cousin of the bride. He was related to the groom. he and I were both ushers at that wedding, I remember when they met.
Don't let anyone have a child with you. Your life is over economically. That child will mostly suffer as an adult. I will say as a man, the reason for the hookups is because most men can't afford family and they know that. Nobody wants to be locked down. The economics are at the core of issue in my opinion. I made 120K a year at one point and lost that income and now living on much less. Most people will also prioritize pleasures over improving themselves because that's harder in life due to economics.
I met my husband in my early 30s through his sister, who was a new friend. I can’t imagine a dating app, that would cause me so much stress. So with you there.. You’ll meet someone when and where you’re supposed to! Stay true to yourself.

Dating apps could work if women evaluated men for potential compatibility in a relationship rather than their individual photography skills. It's not the dating apps fault that you're misusing it. The goal isn't to choose the winner of a photography competition.

I'm 31 and never entertained dating apps. Never made a profile. I could see it for what it was; a waste of time. If I'm really lonely I would go to a bar or club, that's way more fun than those robotic dating apps. Now as I'm older I meet people in my hobbies, coffee shop and if I'm feeling bold even cold approach. If I see someone I like, I will let them know and see where it takes us.
I understand rthe logic but the problem is that here aren't many circumstances where i can naturally meet women. Theres a distinct lackof Women in my life, hence the dating apps. Even then it still sucks

I know you're an Introvert, but have you tried going to Jazz Concerts in the Park and meeting some people there? Typically more Mature People go to those. You might have a better experience there. 🙂
