There's a certain pattern or unwritten grammar to it. We'll replace nouns and verbs with their English equivalent readily, but other types of words not so much. It's hard to explain because around here we just pick it up from hearing it, as it's not exactly taught anywhere 😅

They're acadians. They speak chiac which a mix of english and french. The wikipedia page for acadia has a pretty good explanation of their history.
