WHOA !! I just made this and WOW, I have tried making all kinds of breads and this one blew me away, crunchy on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside, I really didn't expect this to work, I am impressed !! Will be making this over and over again !
Me too. I sliced mine after 2 days and put it in the freezer. You should try taking out a slice or 2, straight into a dry warm pan and 'toast' it * even NUTTIER😋😋
What really helps me when making this is making the water as hot as possible straight from the faucet. Thanks, Soraya, for introducing me to this family recipe.
I have been using spelt for ALL my baking and/or cooking (not much of a real baker though). Made this ONCE (although another recipe with wet heist)......... GOLLY *** THE BEST BREAD EVER 😋😋😋* WEIGHED 1.3kg and each slice PACKED full of nutty GOODNESS. It also freezes well. TRY toasting it straight from the freezer in a dry pan * DELICIOUS. Thank you for sharing, yours sounds much easier. Have a great and blessed day from South Africa.
Be aware that if you buy spelt flour, the flour is probably sifted and may have some added. Typically, bran and germ are sifted out, which contain nutrients that the body needs. Some mills add substances to improve baking ability, perhaps ascorbic acid. Then you want to be sure to get all the nutrients in spelt, if you use freshly milled, unsifted flour from spelled kernels.
Thank you! Hmmm... I’m not sure why yours looks more brown, but it may just be the lighting in the video. Mine was also a light brown, similar to how whole wheat looks. 😊😊 If you are sure you have spelt flour, I wouldn’t worry too much about it! I found this info as well: “In its original form, spelt has a light reddish-brown color.” So it seems yours is just fine!
Hi Leona! I think if it's a regular loaf pan you would need to oil it (or maybe try parchment paper!). If it's a silicone loaf pan, you can probably omit the oil. 😁 I haven't tried either, but I think it should work!!! Let me know how it goes. 🤗
I can't get mixed seeds only sunflower suppose works too, right? But it looks too good to be true so easy may I ask what will happen if u proof it overnight
Yes, only sunflower should be fine! 😁 And YES it's just as easy as it looks. 😂 You know what's funny about the proofing... the original recipe & directions weren't clear and I never even proofed this bread... at all. 🙈🙈 Soooo... I feel like leaving it overnight would be too long (as yeast proofs very quickly) but I also baked it without *any* proofing, so I'm not 100% sure. LOL. It is just my guess that that would be too long. Maybe proof it in the fridge if you need to leave this overnight? That's what I do with sourdough. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but hope this helps somewhat! 😄
Haha, I was lucky to have found that in my cupboard! My next step will be to use a dutch oven... but you can definitely google dutch oven alternatives and see if you have something you can use! That's how I came up with the idea to use the ramekin. 😄

clrkkdd12 It tastes kinda similar to whole wheat I would say! I especially liked this bread because of the nuts and seeds though. With those added in, you won’t notice the spelt as much as the delicious nuts & seeds themselves. Enjoy and let me know how it turns out! 🤗

🤔🤔🤔 great question! Unfortunately I don’t know the answer as I haven’t personally tried it. I’ve always thought yeast is meant specifically for bread, although I know it may be hard to come by these days! Good question. 🤔🤔 I’ve wondered that myself but haven’t tried it without the seeds yet. I *think* it would be ok, but not 100% sure! Could be worth a try. 😄
I think it should be fine! What size loaf pan? If it's an 8 1/2" x 4 1/2" it might make 2 loaves. I haven't tried it, but I think it would cook for slightly less time. I would cut the slit at 15 mins and then let it cook another 30-35 mins. Make sure you let it cool fully before cutting as well!
Can’t say for sure as I haven’t tried it.. but I think it would be ok! It might make a slight difference in texture if anything, but I don’t think it would greatly affect the final outcome. 😊

That's a great question as I used to wonder the exact same thing! I have found most of the yeasts work pretty similarly.. I think the main difference is just to let regular yeast "bloom" first, meaning letting it sit for around 5-10 minutes with some water and the sweetener you're using until it's foamy, then add the rest of the ingredients. Hope that helps!
