I read the book years ago. Never once did I imagine this incredible story as a ballet. You nailed it!

Since I first saw him perform, I have felt Herman Cornejo is that rarity -- a truly great dancer and exceptional interpretative artist. Thank you for your work, Mr. Cornejo. It means so much to so many of us and has enriched our lives.

I agree. I just saw him dance "Etudes" at the Met in NYC. His performance was electrifying. And his musicality is truly extraordinary.

Loved this interview! Herman is a dream always, in every way, and Elizabeth Kaye’s thoughtful and informed questions brought out every aspect of this wonderful ballet. Would love to see Behind the Ballet for every show in the season!

Loved the book, adored the movie, and followed with great anticipation when I heard a new ballet world-premiered with the Royal Ballet in London. I was delighted when ABT included like Water for Chocolate in their Fall tour, and could barely wait for the NYC premiere last summer…And with my casting choice for Pedro, Herman Cornejo! Attended 20 year celebration for Herman Cornejo and delighted to note an addition milestone for him will be incorporated into his Friday night performance this year! I loved his performance as Pedro, last summer. Have my ticket for a REPEAT, but this year’s matinee has different casting... It was a tough decision, but as I am driving in from RI, matinee is my time. Best to all in ABT this season!
