Music video: Let's Stay Together. From Green's album with the same title. Al Green wrote this timeless classic with producer Willie Mitchell and Al Jackson (Booker T. & the MG's). The sweet song is a big number 1 hit in the United States. On February 6th 1972 it peaked at #1 [for 1 week] and spent 16 weeks on the Top 100 Billboard charts. And on January 2nd, 1972 it reached #1 [for 9 weeks] on Billboard's R&B Singles chart.
'Let's Stay Together' is also a favorite for movie soundtracks: Pulp Fiction, Munich and The Ladies' Man. Tina Turner covered this song with a very sensual, understated version at the start of her solo career.
Born as Albert Greene (April 13, 1946 in Forrest City, Arkansas), an American gospel and soul singer and pastor. He is one of the most popular soul singers of all time, having achieved his greatest success in the early 1970s. Green is the winner of 11 Grammy Awards, including the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
