      ShotMechanics Hey coach,sorry to take up your time but I have a problem. I keep Injuring my right fingers in games (Ussually playing D) causing me to miss a lot of weeks due to injury. I was wondering if I should convert from being a right hand shooter to a left because when I get injured I'll still be able to play on cause the injurys ussually only effect my shot and not my dribbling much. Ik it will take a lot of work because im a poor weak hand shooter but i just wanted your opinion on it if i should switch.
      P.s Im a fairly average right hand shooter. I can consistently make open shots inside the 3 point line and some moving shots but Im not great from anywhere outside the college 3 point line. Im 14,105pounds and 5'4 and ive been playing basketball almost a year if that makes a diference.

    • @joshuathinkingoutloud
      @joshuathinkingoutloud 7 лет назад +2

      +Larry The Lobsterr regardless of injuries you should put in a lot of work with your weak hand. I used to expect of myself and tell my players that they should be able to do everything include shoot with both hands. It is a little overkill but it makes you feel confident when using either hand because you know what you're capable of.

      The Answer ! Kind of but more importantly, know how capable they are and its helpful if they know how you play. That's why Westbrook and kd use to be so effective in the league with their passes, assist and alley-oops. Same wit lebron and Dwayne wade

    This is advanced stuff and it takes time, even for pros, to get familiar with one another to make these work. Most passing is rather ordinary, but works really well with players who move well away from the ball. Having plays which tend to attract defenders one way, so a player can move the other direction are really good. Teamwork is knowing how to move one way and send the ball the other way or move the players one way to let another guy separate at 3pt or basket (or at least on line to the basket). Then great no-look passing becomes easier and great fun to do and see.

    Sorry Ik I'm late and this is completely unrelatable but I'm so proud of myself with this game I had to share it. Today I got 14 points, 7 boards and 10 assists. I would've had 12 assists if kids knew how to hit open layups, but I literally found the perfect duo. He can actually hit open shots mid range and layups and since I'm a playmaker we just dominate. He will cut into the paint while I'm getting double teammed and he automatically knows I'm passing so he's paying full attention and catches my pass and gets me my assist. All of my assists literally came from this one kid because he knows my play style. We also have similar playstyles tho too, great perimeter defenders and high shot and basketball iq as well as playmaking. Damn its gonna be fun destroying people with him.
    Edit: forgot to say that it was my high in assists and boards. Believe I got 30 points one game so that is basically impossible for me to beat. Also if you are wondering I shot around 44% from the field and I didn't shoot a three in the game I mentioned in the first paragraph. can someone confirme that this is good for a person who has only been playing for 13 months?

    I liked the way you broke down the different aspects of passing, but I thought you might add putting the proper speed on the pass also. Too hard and the pass might not be caught, and too light, and the pass might get intercepted. Also, I thought you could break down the different ways to pass such as Two Hand Overhead, lob pass, behind the back, off the dribble flip pass, etc.
