+Travis Roope we all did, i' m sure 👍😉 i found him so arrogant, so "superior", when he first appeared... now i can' t stop watching his videos; specially the flashback where he kills his boss, at MI - 6. "The reverse - Harold" if you will ☺😁 From both sides of the world - real and fiction: The finest villain we' ll ever see! 💫
the beats starting at 2:01 ... with an antagonist so clever who seeked control, order from his days in mi6 and sacrificing himself so that his blurred vision stays!! damn ... im glad i was born in this era
Greer’s death didn’t do anything for me because his ego was never deflated. I wish we could see more of his humiliation, his failure, and downfall because he died thinking way too much of himself and what he’d done. It wasn’t a fitting ending for all of the suffering he caused.
I disagree - I think that would have cheapened the clash in favour of emotional satisfaction. Having a villain who is every bit as willing to die for the cause as any of our protagonists gives a different vibe that is important to how good that penultimate hour is.
In artificial intelligence, the concept called "morality" and the absence of the concept can be seen in The machine and Samaritan. For The machine, even irrelevant people are important, while for Samaritan, even the person who set it free is irrelevant. All of Finch's concerns for artificial intelligence were actually seen in Samaritan. Note: I don't think Samaritan is dead, Although there is nothing to prove this because the series has been canceled, the fact that the two super artificial intelligence is too advanced to destroy each other is obvious. Second note: John Greer and Carl Elias are characters I'm sad to be really dead. Third note: Everything was translated, it can be wrong.
David Navarro that was common in this show.. remember that time the serial killer had Finch and that time Vigilence had guns pointed at the heroes.. and everytime a bad guy holds a gun at a good guy.. almost always that pointless delay
It was metaphorical-Greer thought of his death as a "queen's sacrifice" in chess to force his opponent into a checkmate (as without Finch and his activation code for Ice-9, Samaritan would have lived and Team Machine would never have won). On the other hand, though I do agree that Greer's death was unnecessary, he went out with a bang at least. Edit: Do also recall that Finch taught the Machine that whoever thinks that the world is a game of chess deserves to lose, so I guess this is somewhat a payoff to that as well.
Samaritan was just being cocky. It assumed it only needed Greer as a countermeasure for Finch (since Greer is a covert ops strategist without peer). No Finch, no need for Greer either.
I think Samaritan was doing Greer a favour. He's in his 80s and is probably not going to retain his intellect forever, if he couldn't continue his work for Samaritan did he have anything else to live for? This way he died quickly, believing he'd just defeated his enemy and saved his deity with a historic sacrifice - and he obviously took pride in it. Samaritan does sometimes interact on a personal level with humans for whatever reason, like when Control's disloyalty was discovered and Samaritan points this out to her despite Greer having just said it.
The penultimate hour of POI was pure genius and an epic ride. So sad it's about to end.
I always knew Samaritan would be the one that kills Greer
Convenient for Nolan that his uncle is such a good actor lol
Love Greer vs Finch : both of them are so clever.. R.I.P Greer, a great antagonist for a great show..
yeah true!
I used to hate him so much

Yeah he always had control, impossible to kill, and he died like a boss.
And his insane ability for creating a compelling speech? This guy had it all! ;)
RIP Greer, shine on you crazy diamond.
"For such a brilliant mind, you are a terrible chess player, which is why you've already lost."
8 years have passed that this series have ended. Time flies.

Greer: You are a terrible chess player.
Also Greer: *King Sacrifice*
For Greer, it never was about him
He was never the King. To him, he was simply a pawn. Samaritan is the Queen and King in his game.

Greer reminds me so much of Major Zero from the Metal Gear games.

Yeah Greer and Elias was the best characters !! I totally agree with you
Greer could have just as easily killed Finch with a gun but I guess plot armor is impenetrable.

Greer could have easily walked out of the room before too

Ahh the classic "Guy builds something way too powerful and ends up dying by the thing he created"
Claypool created Samaritan, Greer was only the one who freed him from human control ;)
And then the villain suicides himself... what a story.
It never was about him
?^^600?
this show looks so stupid
