This was fun challenge! I told this awesome wrestler (stump) he had 1 minute to take me down! He definitely did take me down but the rules were I couldn’t used any offensive moves. This challenged me to get better, adapt and is a great way for many Tai Chi practitioners to sharpen their reaction and sensitivity skills!
You have to work with other arts that have many other skill sets so you both can gain from each other! 💯

I think everybody before commenting should read Nikki'o" s description. " He definitely did take me down but the rules were I couldn't t use any offensive moves". Great to see two martial styles working together. Hope to see more.

I one hundred percent agree with that last sentence. work with other arts to get better. even if you lose, you get to learn.

Great practice, in one year or less your takedown defense should be greatly improved. Tai chi has trained with Greco wrestlers, but it's time to take it to another level.

I think if it's a grappling match, when someone suddenly drops their level for a low-single it's hard to react in time. You see it happening, but since they initiated and dropped so fast it's hard to adjust your hips to defend. One way is to drop along with them. Since they initiate you can't squat down as fast as them, but instead of squatting down with leg power, it's possible to practice suddenly pulling the balls of the feet just slightly off the ground so that you drop down immediately thanks to gravity. With practice you can do controlled drops like this into the positions that you want.
Less effort than using leg power, faster, more efficient. Can combine it with any typical wrestling defense to a low-single to get to the positions you want faster.

Your comment is so helpful dude, I have been struggling with the speed in defense and this will help me.

@@user-qv4fp9vm8u Glad that helps! Outside the box thinking helps us surpass our limits. If we only train the same way everyone else does, then we'll only ever be as good as everyone else. To push the status quo into new territories we have to innovate with outside the box thinking.

If i can give my two cents, niko was leaning too far forward with too much strength. When you do that it makes you stiff and slower so when stamp dropped his weight he couldnt react in time..another way is to stick on to him and use the momentum of the wrestler moving down to increase your speed
