Those old motor courts and motels are very unique. I've stayed in several on 66 when I was a kid.
The Murals are fantastic!
It's great that a town will take the time and expense to have them painted. Also I really enjoy the Music match up to the driving through towns and country side that you do Will...excellent!

The frozen custard back then was awesome. Today's custard doesn't seem to be the same. Safe travels
A little unknown about Springfield In 1956 Elvis Presley Played the Shrine Mosque in Downtown Springfield, when he was there a small 10 yr old boy snuck into his dressing room and told him he couldnt play a guitar worth a damn. It intrigued Elvis. While in Springfield Elvis also went and seen a movie at that theater you passed Downtown.
OH and about that boy.. he was John Wilkinson who went on to be in the TCB band and after Elvis's death he came back and lived in Springfield until his death in 2013 of cancer. He is buried in Springfield
This adventure is so amazing! Everywhere you turn there are more cool and exciting things to see and do!! We have enjoyed every second of every Route 66 video so far! We are waiting in anticipation for the new video each day! 🙏🏻for safe travels.

Charming video with the old motels. Red's diner was great & your burger & dawns hotdog looked yummy. Be sure to find info on the 2011 Joplin tornado when you're there. It was the costliest tornado in US history. I drove thru Joplin a few years after the tornado but didnt see any damage. they rebuilt pretty well. Try to get some nighttime video of the neon route 66 signs during your trip. They're really something. enjoy and stay safe!

I was looking up, Springfield Rt. 66 Festival. It went on all weekend. Car and Bike show and bands, booths! I saw your video, so watched it. I live here in Springfield, since 1989. I love it here. People are so friendly. Great fishing lakes, all around. Also, about an hour to Branson.

I have been to Joplin years ago when my sister and her family lived there. My nephew was born there. We went to Oklahoma and saw an Indian village and a buffalo ranch. Have fun!!

Loving the trip so far... taking the same route we took all the time growing up to visit relatives in California. Bringing back child hood memories with my parents ( both deceased now)and our summer vacations before flying was so easy accessible. Now as an adult we fly every where and miss out on America’s fading history of Rt 66. Hubby and me do take a lot of long weekend road trips to try to see small towns and interesting sites close to us. There are many things to see...We are from Chicago suburbs

The Giant Hamburg sign story is very interesting. The Best Western definitely looks like a good place to stay. We rarely use Best Western but found one in South Portland, Maine we liked a lot.

that Red's burger looks sooo good, love char burgers, and those muffler men you guys keep seeing, and the old motels and gas stations so cool.....
We always drove by Springfield on our road trips from St. Louis to Branson. We never went into downtown Springfield. The downtown area looked so welcoming now! Hard to believe it has been 10 years already since Joplin was hit by the EF-5 tornado which caused major destruction. Enjoy your time in Joplin!
