Just wanted to say, I like Americans. I'm an old Infantry Soldier and all the Americans i met when Lina and i lived in the Philippines were great guys who i easily felt very comfortable with especially other Veterans, we were like brothers. Well thats how i felt about those guys, no b/s, pretty straight guys. I miss them. Bob NZ.

This is an excellent video. I love how you don't just go with what a "pro" says. You look it up, test and find out it is bs, then figure out how to solve the problem. I wonder how many systems actually pass design specifications. Then, we all have to realize that most systems aren't failing horribly so maybe the specifications are a bit too strict.
I know you come across very laid back. You're trying to get your house finished and sold and then there's this ICF project. When you start to get stressed just go back and watch "Building my ICF house Part 1: Intro and site work" and remember where you started and how much you've achieved today. I just watched it and you are so excited and you explain everything fully and use the software program allowing us to visualize what's in you head 🧠 and the final finished product. 🏠
Yea, I think building the house has been pretty quick. Its everything else on the checklist that takes forever. I should be starting back on building by the first week of july.
16:05 Places underground septic field parallel to underground septic tank because "looks better". I appreciate this guy's work ethics and passion so much....
Great stuff Jesse, you're a good guy with initiative. When we were kids in Westport NZ, we had a septic tank, (concrete) at the end of our yard because being outside the town sewerage system we didn't have access. My Dad, came home one night a tad inebriated and lost his false teeth in the toilet and impulsively flushed the lever. The next morning he tried unsuccessfully to get us to help him bail out the septic tank. NO WAY. YUK. He did it himself, LOL. I'm 82yo now Jesse and remembering stuff many years back. I'm still healthy and strong and an experienced driver. Love your truck. God bless you Jesse and your family. Uncle Bob.
Hah! I remember when I was small and we installed septic system for our new house - it became the most lush, prolific and absolutely HATED acre and half lawn - especially cause I had to mow it and Pops wouldn't get a riding mower. Apparently, I could use the exercise more than driving practice..... Carry on !!
That littlest one was really working that’s so good to teach them to work. I said a prayer for your family my children are all grown now it’s a precious time when they are young
I learn a lot from each video Jesse! Thanks for teaching us! Your channel, Andrew Camarata’s channel, and yer Dad’s channel are my top 3! You New Yorkers get it done! 👍🏻😎
Owned a real estate company in northern Wisconsin and very familiar with mound systems. Had a number of cottages that required septic replacements before we could close the sale and mound systems were the only thing that would work. Your soil testing was unique. Our plumbers never did that. Your RUclips's are always great to watch. Looking forward to the completion of the I foam home.
Very informative set of videos Jesse. I am constantly amazed by how many things you are so knowledgeable about - master electrician, equipment operator, welder, extensive mechanic skills, concrete, steel and wood construction, sewer systems, wood mill operator and so much more! Plus your work ethic is second to none!! Take care and God Bless you and your family.
This is just one more reason I love your videos. You take every scenario into account, You always look at all options and plan methods that account for everything. I can see how you get jobs!
Just found your channel by happen chance. Dude. I dig your tenacity. You're like a F'n honey badger! You just get after it. Out-f**kin-standing! I'll be subscribing. I'm planning to build a house soon. Your septic series is priceless. You kinda remind me of my dad when he was young n vibrant. He's 87 now on the down hill side of the mountain.
40:40 that is pretty slick, I just watched my septic guy climb into my hole to replace the pump... had I had that I probably could of installed my pump myself...
WOW... no wonder it took a little time to get this video out. I've been so eager to see your progress. Thanks for explaining that perc test to us... it answers some questions I've had in my head for decades.
Your septic system is very different than we have in East Tennessee. We have mostly red clay and it does not perk well. Here they dig sloping ditches about 3 feet deep or however much it takes to get that 1 inch drop. Lay down 8 -10 inches of gravel, Then run the drain pipe with crossovers if they need to run parallel ditches. Cover that wit gravel. It work well in fair weather.
Jesse thanks for taking the time to explain your thinking and video all this. Very few owner builders do this in their videos but it’s so hopefully for those of us considering a similar project!
Great video and information 👍. Your boys are growing so fast. They sure are cute helpers. Peace and good fortune and good health to you and your family. 😃
Absolutely superb. I know nothing about any of this, also very unlikely to ever need the knowledge gained, but really interesting on such an important part of your living. Never heard of concrete sand, that made a difference. Am sure the inspector must have been delighted with you. This may well be used as a reference for others to do the same/similar. Thankyou, that was very enjoyable to see :)
I find both Part 1 & Part 2 fascinating. I will say that after the mile long 😎 septic line from the house to the tank, the leach field was rather anticlimactic. I was expecting drainage pipes going in all directions and possibly ending at the Hudson River. Seriously, this is the Rolls-Royce of septic systems. The nickname is so fitting since RR's slogan is "Inspiring Greatness,"............which Jesse does....continuously. As mentioned in previous posts, Jesse doesn't just act and do what he's been told. It may take longer, but he figures out the best way to achieve the exact result he desires. This is unique to J, and I won't embarrass him, but read the RR slogan above. (sorry, there's no RR emoji..yet)
Good job - Jesse your dame good on the bobcat putting material on a dime in a spot where you want it. Great watching you do this project and like the little guys helping their Dad do the work Cheers to you and the family.
Great video Jesse, a lot of this type of stuff is way above my head but you have a great way of describing what you’re doing that makes it easier to understand. Coming along nicely look forward to the next video.
Love the videos Jesse ! As a suburban/city man I'm very jealous of your property, and i dream one day of building my own house and building the property out the way i want. Keep up the good work!
Don't forget Jessie, no shade area's, clear away those trees, you want 😉 sun and area were wind helps with evaporation . 2 needed for best results. And correct materials that you described. Good luck . Thanks for the Video's.
Great work, Jesse. Your boys are growing so fast! Really like to see them getting involved with your projects, that is something you must really enjoy. Looking forward to seeing more of the house build.
That house and yard are going to look amazing in a couple years, Good call on the fruit trees. We planted 2 apple 2 cherry and 2 pear 24yrs ago and we have enough for the whole family.
I always enjoy your videos and the reasoning behind doing what you do. Because of that I find myself always looking for your next posting. You are a hard worker, not afraid of manual labor, but I am sure you also like being a operator as well. Nice to have the right tools and equipment.
If I had a dollar for every raised bed Henry Schmidt and myself put in around Canandaigua lake ....well I would have a lot of dollars. Great video awesome work Jesse !!!
In my experience I found that if your leach field is near pine trees the trees absorb the water from the leach field so much that the water is absorbed at a tremendous rate !
This video helped me out considerably because you mentioned that the force main is supposed to drain back. I noticed this when I had my own effluent tank open and noticed water shooting out of the weep hole. I thought this was an indication my distribution tank was clogged but if it actually drains back, this makes sense. My problem is that my floats keep getting tangled (twice in 15 years) which I thought was because of this draining back, flooding the tank and dislodging the floats, but now I am not so sure.
the float could get tangled but if you route it right, then it shouldnt ever get tangled again, but yea if you are in an area with frost then it would most likely be drainback from the hole
@@jmuller86 - I live in the Hudson Valley like you, so yea, there's frost. I have multiple floats, unlike what you installed. I like your system better.
As usual, a job well planned, well done and finished with finesse. Thanks for sharing. Appreciate your caring and daring to do it right. Blessings brother...👆🙏🙌💪🎯
I got a kick with talking soil types. I farmed a lot of sandy loam soils and clay. I sold a 100 acre farm and it was more like muck soil. I divided it into 10 acre plots. The kicker was getting the percolation tests done. I had the perk tests completed in the summer. A few things have changed since then and more in line with this system. Nothing like seeing working smart at work. Eaglegards...
I think RUclips unsubscribed me from the channel. I was wondering why I didn't see any new updates. I wouldn't have known about this if it didn't just pop up. Great vlog
Great job Jessie like you said you were happy enough not to get rid of the apples in the pear trees but they sure do need a good trimming and if you don't do it seeing you disturb the ground around them and ran over them they will die
Wow what an interesting and technical video Jesse. Mind blowing skill sets you have and knowledge. It's a shame you didn't have an old concrete truck bottle mixer to load the material into and let it dry mix then dump it out onto your site Keep up the great work 👍
again jesse, well done u made it look easy ,and of course alot of work ,planning is key ,and u have that key ,great video, thanks for sharing, catch u on the next one ,you all take care
This should of been done as soon as the tanks went in to the ground and filled with water. Now would be a good time to start your bacteria culture in the septic before you start sending waste to it. By pouring in two boxes of Rid X in both tanks. Than you need to feed them a gallon of puree vegetable matter in a blender once a day. This will help to avoid the poop smell to a dirt smell and build up in the beginning. 😅👍
