  • Free camping on the Bogong high Plains. This place was breathtaking on so many levels. From Cope Hut, Wallace hut, Fainter Falls and the Raspberry Hill Campsite.
This would have been one of the best sunsets I have every experienced.
A riverside amp I stumbled across on night 2 was perfect and I have the whole place to myself.
The FJ Cruiser was the perfect touring vehicle again taking on all the mountain roads without a problem.

Absolute stunning country up there Rich. I stayed at that exact spot you stayed on Raspberry hill back in May, got down to -5 that night and had the wild dogs going crazy around me all night. Kept the 7mm-08 nice and handy i can tell ya.
    Enjoyed the vid mate.

      -5 is getting fresh!
The wild dogs aren't ideal! Tne only thing I heard was tne wind amd a deer honk. It is definitely a top spot.
      Thanks for watching mate.

Nice video Rich. Used to be my old stomping ground when I was younger, conjures up memories. Kiewa Valley, Buckland Valley, Anglers Rest, Mitta Mitta, thoroughly enjoyed it all. Got booked in to visit in mid January after nearly 30 years, Interesting to see all the changes, not many tobacco farms now but id imagine the drying frames would still be there. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for watching mate, we generally head up along the Buckland Valley area.
30 years, I'm sure it will bring back many fond memories. Enjoy and safe travels!

I might have to take a detour in the way home from work one day, but I’ll be leaving the hiking to you ! 🤦🏽🤣
So close to my hometown at that last camping spot.
Once again Rich. Well captured !

Wait you turned left for mitta but then turned around and headed to Omeo? Looked like you were heading out of mt beauty when you said you were heading into it. While it’s getting warmer down low it’s still pretty crispy up high, always pay to know what the forecast is before heading off on a trip, thanks for sharing mate. How many kms does the fj have on it now?

    • @OffroadTouringLife
      @OffroadTouringLife  2 месяца назад +1

That's right, I did turn left because I wanted to suss out Big River campground. It's a good spot, but being early on the day, I wasn't ready to camp just yet.
I was definitely heading onto a Mt Beuaty, I had just fuelled up at Myrtleford.
I was expecting and prepared for the cold night up high. I'm always guilty of over packing, this includes food. I was definitely more than prepared for the cold night. Having the right gear is important.
The FJ has 228k on it now.
      Thanks for watching.
      Cheers
