Goat for sure. But I think there’s a lot of guys that have confidence, and a high IQ for the game. But you know when you watch him play he’s got something else, he’s got an innate gift to play this game. Don’t look at the stats, or numbers he’s putting up regardless of how good they are - but you just watch him play and think “Yea, he’s got it”.

A lot depends on who his competition will be in the west, injuries, team building/development, etc. I think they can definitely get 2 just because Luka and Porzingis are already good enough at their apex to do that over the course of say the next decade.

His excellence is in creating space! The way how he uses the blocks, his body and change of tempo and pace is something that almost no one in the league has! Add the high basketball IQ and the superior court vision to all of that and you have an extremely efficient and productive player. Although it doesn't appear like that at first, but he's quite strong and he is not afraid to drive straight into the crowd in the paint. The scary thing for the opponents is that he will get even better in the following years. Imagine what he will be able to do at his peak! I see a very prospective carrier.

His fakes are another way of creating space... He fakes shots, passes, drives... Sometimes on first sight you think "what's wrong with the defense?" and then in replay or slow motion you see Luka faking all over the place :)

I was living in San José last year and as a Mexican i obviously love soccer but this guy was making me enjoy basketball like I had never before, I’m in love with his game and still watching videos even tho i don’t live in the us anymore. Michael Scofield but he has a really polished game right now at only 20 years old. His shooting touch is incredible to watch and his skill at the rim certainly isn’t bad. He’ll only get more athletic as he nears his prime, so just wait and see. His vision is also incredible(as you could see in the video).

Luka should know of what nationality he is, don’t you think? As he speaks Slovene, Serbo-Croat, loves Croatian coast, Luka Modrić and Serbian folk singers, I think he belongs to all ex Yugoslavia too and we’re all proud of him, from Ohrid to Triglav. The stupid thing is, he's not even really a good shooter yet. His efficiency is all down to elite rim finishing. He gets his 3pt % up to even just league average and FT shooting into the 80's where it should be and he's contending with Harden for the scoring title, and probably Trae Young/Morant going forward for assists. The COVID situation and how it will affect salary cap flexibility going forward really sucks, cause my money would be on Mavs being the next dynasty after GSW with the Mavs opportunity to put the right pieces around Luka and KP over the next few years. You got super young point guard version of Larry Bird, and Dirk Nowitzki with D, both under 25, best situation to build around in the league. But there's no telling how the cap situation will affect their ability to fill out that dynasty team.

One of the most exciting seasons for us Dallas natives. From 4 yr old to 80 yr old grannies everyone just were so happy to see him play.
Basketball is the art, and Luka is the artist.
I don't think I have ever seen another human being enjoy playing basketball as much as Luka Doncic which is why I believe he is one of the greatest players in the NBA. You can have the skill, athletism and IQ but if you don't truly love what you're doing, you will never be able to live up to your potential.

Swear to God, the only reason people don't call him athletic is because he doesn't have bulging biceps. He's strong enough and fast enough to compete with anyone in the league and his ball IQ is practically unmatched. All he needs is some work on defense (that'll come with time, I'm sure) and free throws and he'll be an absolute one man army, as if he isn't already. Also gotta love that RM Euro swag he kept, need some of that in today's league

It might be that his biceps are simply hidden beneath some fat. Many fat people--weight lifters, wrestlers, sumo wrestlers and football lineman--have huge muscles and are immensely strong.

I just don't think the most common definition of athletic is accurate at all. What I mean by that, is there is very little Luka can't do that other players who are considered more athletic can do. His ability to read the defense sets him apart from all other players, makes him really unstoppable..You double or triple he finds his teammates.You make him drive to the paint or shoot from outside you are dead..If he learns how to be a good defender he will be a complete player!!
I'm a 20+ year Clippers fan. We own the Mavs this year. That being said, Luka is my favorite player in the NBA and I believed in him way before most people, before he even played his first game. He will be the best player in the NBA by next year, surpassing Giannis. This guy is going to go down as a top 10 player all time if he can stay healthy WATCH. So special. I mean he's better in year 2 than Lebron was for sure.

Shooting and defense are actually his biggest weaknesses. It's his passing and rim finishing that make him elite. 20 year olds are not supposed to have a floater that accurate. He's a long, long way away from his prime though.

Dunks are too easy and too often just done for showoff, like when there is no one near you. The basket should be raised to twelve or even thirteen feet. I don't think there is a regulation requiring it to be any specific height. Higher basket would make dunking a true and impressive challenge.

Watching birds games on RUclips, bird was a much better defender, and technical scorer, but yeah Luka is 20, a superior point guard, and I see similarities in how Larry used his dribble to open up passing lanes.

Michael Moore, I agree that his playmaking skills resemble Lebron’s. But I think he is closer to Bird. You mentioned rebounding, Bird was great a rebounder averaged 10 per game playing mostly the SF position (he played PF before McHale came along). Only thing is Luka’s shooting isn’t that good, but we’ll see how he develops. Bird and Luka are very similar in a way that they’re both slow but they still manage to dominate the scoring board.

He reminds me a lot of Larry Bird except Bird played in the post more while Luka in the perimeter. They’re both slow but both have extremely high basketball iq which they use as their primary tool to dominate the game. I’m glad Luka exists today because now I can explain to youngsters how Bird can dominate in today’s game.

And the slow pace.Paul Pierce was a way better shooter, and slightly more athletic (when young he could do windmills and such), but didn't really create for anyone that wasn't Paul Pierce. Luka creates like Nash and scores even more than Pierce.
