  • @Lissanuddin
    @Lissanuddin 11 лет назад +1

    I meant this:
    How often had you an opportunity to listen to spoken Polish or Russian and knew that it was Polish or Russian respectively?
    Also:
    How often had you an opportunity to hear spoken Danish and Norwegian and knew that it was Danish or Norwegian, respectively?
    Does this makes more sense to you now?
    The point is: while Danish and Norwegian (bokmaal) are all but the same language, they sound totally different, no matter whether your ear is natively English, Italian or Ki-Swahili.

    • @richardblackhound1246
      @richardblackhound1246 5 лет назад

      Polish and Russian are much more different from each other (the written language too) than Danish and Norwegian, in my opinion, although I am a native speaker of none of these languages, lol.

  • @Lissanuddin
    @Lissanuddin 11 лет назад +4

    I do not know if this is relevant, but they are speaking Norwegian with a distinct Russian (not Polish) accent, and the music in the background is not Polish but distinctly and unmistakably Russian. Also, the names 'Alexej' and 'Andrej' do not exist in Polish, they are Russian. The Polish counterparts would be 'Aleksy' and 'Andrzej', but 'Aleksy' is very rare in Poland. Other than that, the skit is fairly to middlingly (rather middlingly) funny.

  • @akakabutoeli
    @akakabutoeli 10 лет назад +1

    Har ni inte fått skit för detta? Jag menar; folk som blir arga för att detta är fördomsfullt? Kan förstå det i så fall... till viss del, men nä, detta är bara roligt och detta måste man ju kunna få lov att skoja om!!! :D :D

  • @Lissanuddin
    @Lissanuddin 11 лет назад +1

    Also: while Swedish and Norwegian are pretty close too (though not as close as Norwegian and Danish) they DO sound very much alike to an untrained ear. But you won't tell me that Norwegian and Danish do too. Neither do Polish or Russian, though they may be not so wildly apart as the former two. See what I mean? The velar 'l' iin the skit, the strong palatalisation of consonants before front vowels, and many others are very Russian traits not known in Polish.

  • @laukiami
    @laukiami 8 лет назад

    For my opinion the small part of this act has some true in it.. For my eyes polish people don't valuate themselves, quite often working for lowest prices in marked even if they are skilled workers.. And its hard to trust them, because they are telling that they can do something for you, but it will be just first time when he will do this and at the end the result is quite sad.. Just last year I got few commercials in postbox - few polish people is looking for painting works and the price was.... and other commercial was also - 2 guys from polish can do painting, woodworking, lay tiles, do some gardening and there was more... So painting, woodworking and tiles - one clever man told one's "You can be professional in one skill, or amateur in many"

  • @Lissanuddin
    @Lissanuddin 11 лет назад +2

    'Norwegians aren't native to any slavic languages'
    Thank you for telling us!
    'Polish and Russian sound quite similar to us'
    I seriously doubt so. Polish and Russian sound quite different, maybe not so extremely different as Norwegian and Danish (which no-one would say sound alike, although they're almost the same language, I am talking of bokmaal, which Polish and Russian are not) but nearly so. The problem is, you have hardly any opportunity to listen to Polish while KNOWING it is Polish.

    OK, these comedians are poor piglets, deserving commiseration in every respect. They are not representative for the proud, respectable people of Norway.
    BTW, the dark velar 'l' which they (over)use in this silly skit of theirs is characteristic for both Norwegian and Russian, but not for Polish (whether it does not exist), nor Swedish, nor Danish, nor German.

  • @Lissanuddin
    @Lissanuddin 11 лет назад +2

    Sure not all of them; Polish people are not born with English skills, if Norwegians are, well, good for them.

  • @Lissanuddin
    @Lissanuddin 11 лет назад +2

    They say at 0:56-0.57 'krasna ploshad', which is 'Red Square' in Russian. The skit would have been much funnier if they had taken pains to caricature some really Polish linguistic and behavioural peculiarities. Imagine someone made a comedy about 'Norwegians' (rather than the Duch), showing them drinking Heineken, smoking pot, muttering 'Damrak, Oude Kerk, Wilhelmus van Nassouwe' all the time and boasting about having administered euthanasia to so and so many... See what I mean?

    There is no generalising here. The video reproduces (in imho rather a tasteless and silly way) stereotypes about RUSSIANS, not POLES. 'Polish' guys with Russian names, speaking with a strong Russian accent, listening to Russian music and interspersing their silly dialogue with allusions to Russian realities (such as the Red Square) are no statement about Poles, either offensive or flattering. As a satire on things Polish, they are simply off the mark. Call it 'A. og A. - russer' & it'll be OK.

    Yes, this everybody is getting too, but you would admit it's not terrifically tasteful comedy. Maybe your Norwegian taste IS really as bad as that, but after Breivik you had better not advertise it. Fomenting pride-and-contempt feelings, be they national or religious, is not a good idea at all, look at what happened in Islamic countries after the silly video by an American Copt.

    Funny sketch, if it wasn't for the horrible accent that makes it sound Russian instead of Polish which makes the video funny in another way, the irony of ignorance or just laziness to just produce a sketch that portrays this poorly a foreign accent to such a high degree. Or maybe they even did that on purpose but I highly doubt Norwegian humour was this advanced back then, the only thing they had to do is pretend being a bee trying to speak Norwegian, it actually works without making the sounds like bzz too to long of course, rz sz cz as an example of more advanced sounds.
