A young woman volunteered to help us with our social experiment on women's self-defense. She accepted the challenge of learning how to defend herself if a male attacker approached her. Subscribe to my channel : / @nickdrossos .
If an attacker approaches you and begins talking to you, the first thing you must do is bring your arms up. You must maintain a casual and calm stance while doing so. Try to diffuse the tension, or mention that someone is coming to get you. Your attacker might worry and back off if he hears that someone is coming for you.
If he does not stop, and grabs your hair, the first thing you should do is strike him with your hands right in his face. You can defend yourself by using palm strikes with your hands, or even using your nails and slashing towards his face. What's important is that you do not fight him, but rather fight him off.
With that said, remember that just because you're a woman, that does not mean you can't defend yourself against a male attacker. By striking at the proper moments and being smart about the situation, you can escape safely.
Remember your objective is not to attack him and fight him, it's to get away and survive the situation.

my dad has been teaching me self defense since a very young age, and my brothers and i are always "practicing" whenever we see each other
sometimes its just 1 brother or they'll both attack me and a few times my dad will even join so i have to try fight all 3 of them off. its been good practice the last 10-ish yrs. even while im 18 my brothers and dad are always "attacking" me

Cool dad and brothers. It’s vital to stay alert in the back of your head but when u’ve realised something’s up, what do u do next? If u haven’t tried hitting someone or being grabbed or pounce on or headlocked, your body won’t be aware of what it Can do to escape the scene.
I’ll just slap my little sister randomly. At first she always got hit and would start to cry, but recently (I started this about 2 years ago) she has been very good at blocking and if she misses and gets hit she doesn’t cry anymore.

This technique is NOT PRACTICAL. If somebody was really attacking you then those soft slaps to the top of the head WOULD NOT stop the attack. Seriously, if anybody is that worried about self-defense you need to go into martial arts or buy a gun. DO NOT TRY THIS

Thank you for the great advice in those videos! I liked it when you said "let him think your boyfriend is on the way", because I think a similar approach saved me from being hurt once. I was waiting on an evening after work for the train and it was only me and a man on the platform. He came way to close, told me he liked my hair and tried to stroke it, and asked why I was "so alone", always trying to touch my arm and hand. Creepy!!!! Although I was scared, I used verbal defence and acted like I didn't notice the danger. In my view, it's the point of verbal defence to bring you back on one level with the attacker, rather than adapting his view of him as the stronger one and you as the victim. So I treated him as a normal fellow passenger and invented a story from "my dad was supposed to collect me, oh no, he might miss me when I get on the train. You know, today is my sister's wedding, and I'm so late, and he promised to pick me up, but he might wait at the next station blablabla..." That confused him and he then actually and hesitatingly played along. By the time he tried to touch me, after I had said "NO, I don't want that" several times, we were both on the train, and there were other people around. So I slapped him in the face, yelled "how dare you touch me, I don't know you!" and ran off. Several kind men got up and blocked his way, so he got off at the next station, the coward! :) I really think this situation could have ended up very differently if I had panicked or the train had been empty.

blah People fight girls differently to how they fight guys. If you're a guy being attacked by a guy, they'll just start swinging for you. If you're a woman, they'll go for a grapple, and you can exploit that with nails to his eyes.

+Jenny Bunny Not likely to work. For starters, that is a TINY area. If you are in a high adrenaline, panicked mode like most people would be if attacked, you are not likely to be able to think well enough to even consider hitting such a small place. You will not be able to hit it while moving. Not to mention another person's defense reflexes blocking your attack on that small area. Stay safe.
+Jenny Bunny don't listen to Koworu. the throat is very easy to damage. a good punch, or jab with your thumb, followed by a good punch to the nose would do a lot of damage.
+Gator I train in Krav Maga and have been in my fair share of street fights. You don't know what you are talking about. A humans natural instinct is to duck their head down using their chin to protect their throat. It is a very hard area to hit when in a full on physical confrontation.
Koworu Silentpaw if you train in krav maga, then you should know you should try to hit anywhere, but in particular the weak points: nose, eyes, throat. step in the ring with me or anyone that has training and they'll show you how easy it is to get hit there when you don't see it coming. they'll only duck their chin if they see the attack coming.
+Gator It seems to me that you are saying that you'd use a preemptive possibly lethal attack. I would like to recommend that you check out your local self defense laws as this would likely be seen as murder.

Strength doesnt matter as much when you're biting out throats, tearing groins, and gouging eyes. Leverages also dont require much strength and can subdue people of any size in mere seconds when done correctly. This is without taking into account a humans knack for becoming immensly more resiliant and alert when put in danger.

It would be great if you guys came around where I lived. I work nights and because it's getting warmer I am walking home from work. I've made safety points where if I need to run I can run to a friend's house because there are three on my way home. Im glad I found your channel so if given the circumstance I'll have a fighting chance.

I think the idea is great, but letting the attacker give up so easily is really really bad. Because of that people might start believing that this happens in real life which prob. doesn't. Therefore in order to get a better understanding you should not make it easier just to prove that the technique works you've explained before. This is mandatory.

This is a good way to make women feel empowered. None of this 3rd wave feminism crap saying "teach men not to rape", that isn't going to stop attacks, the type of guy who would do that already knows it's wrong and just doesn't care. Be prepared to gouge out some eyes, claw the crap out of them, do what you need to do and don't feel bad about inflicting some injury, that's the risk they take when they decide to attack a stranger.
